Jack Dawson Murphey II
Jack Dawson Murphey II
Jack, age 19, of Whitesboro, TX, (Graduated high school in Muenster, TX) sadly passed away on October 1st, 2026. He was serving proudly in the U.S. Army, though his family is still convinced he only joined to see if the military could finally force him to make his bed. Spoiler alert: they couldn’t. No matter what his family or a drill sergeant said, Jack’s room remained a disaster zone, and his bed remained triumphantly unmade.
Jack enlisted in the United States Army in June 2025, beginning a journey of service to his country. He completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, followed by Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was assigned to the 11th Airborne Division and was stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, serving with the 11th Infantry, known as the Arctic Angels.
Though his time in the Army and his life were far too short, Jack’s service to his country will forever be a part of his legacy. His family will remember him not only as a soldier, but as a beloved son, brother, twin, and friend whose spirit and laughter will never be forgotten.
Born on August 27th, 2007, Jack entered the world alongside his identical twin brother, Christian Lee Murphey. The two shared an unbreakable bond, built entirely on love, mischief, and a healthy dose of sibling rivalry. In fact, Jack’s peak comedic genius was captured perfectly the day he looked directly at his identical twin and sincerely informed him that he was ugly.
To know Jack was to know the funniest, brightest soul in the room. He loved two things above all else: a good party and a good fight. Especially a good tussle with his twin brother. He brought an infectious, chaotic energy wherever he went, but beneath the tough exterior and the endless jokes was a young man who devotedly, fiercely loved his family and his friends.
Whenever he got the chance to leave the Army base and head home, he would always enjoy home cooking especially the Brussels sprouts casserole and taquito casserole—a menu combination as unique and unforgettable as he was.
Waiting to greet him on the other side are paternal Great Grandparents Paul & Sue Brown; Pat & Ruth Murphey; maternal Great Grandparent Larry Trammell
He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, unmade beds, and a fiercely proud family, including his father & stepmother Jack & Kenna Murphey, Mother Kelly Shannon and spouse Lance Christensen, his identical twin Christian Murphey, younger brother Ryan Murphey, little sister Emmalyne Shannon, stepsister Bailey Hartman, stepsister Avy Mask. Paternal Grandparents Scott & Nancie Murphey, maternal Grandparents Cindy & Trey Moss, Tommy Murphy & his wife Maria and great-grandmother Arlene Trammell, Uncle Travis Murphey, Uncle Tyler and Jessica Murphy and Aunt Tina and James Sasser.
