David Eugene Rush, age 72, of Whitesboro, Texas, passed away September 6, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by family. David was born on March 20, 1954, in McKinney, Texas.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lee Aiken Rush and Henry Clay Rush and sister, Mary Christine Rush McCellon.

David is survived by his beloved sister, Barbara Rush; nieces Tina Rush Vega, Kathy Rush Nesby and Michelle Rush; and numerous great-nieces and -nephews, and cousins.

David was a bright light in so many lives and will truly be missed. He leaves a huge void, but also many wonderful memories to share. 

He was witty, clever and intelligent. David had a flair and talent for designing and decorating. He was an excellent chef and baker, and loved making and canning old fashioned chowchow, pickles and apple butter. 

David loved to reminisce about family and the past. He loved watching old movies, television shows and was a fan of “The Young and Restless” as well as “The View. “He could tell you the biographies and accomplishments of acclaimed movie stars and talented singers. He loved music, especially the Pet Shop Boys and Miley Cyrus, and everyone in between. He was a man of distinction.

He loved his family tremendously, especially his sister, Barbara. David enjoyed hosting family celebrations and gatherings in his home, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas, when he would cook traditional American or Hispanic food, and decorate to celebrate the occasion. 

No memorial service will be held at David’s request. His ashes will be buried in the family plot at the Gordonville Cemetery. May he rest in peace, music, and dance.
