Woodie Carl Tankersley Jr. of Whitesboro, Texas, passed away on August 10, 2026. He was born on June 2, 1945, in Mobile, Alabama, to Woodie Carl Tankersley Sr. and Sadie Lee Mason.

Woodie worked as a boiler plant operator for Georgia Pacific Paper and the Department of Defense; U.S. Navy and he also worked as a material controller for the U.S. Navy. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1966.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Marilyn Jo Lucas, Ida Lindsay, Annette Clark and Vicky Gray.

Woodie is survived by his wife, Barbara of Whitesboro, Texas; son, Marcus of Arkansas; daughters, Maria and Priscilla Tankersley of Gainesville, Texas; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Katie and Jeff Koons; and many nephews and nieces.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and uncle.
