Billy Joe ‘Bill’ Gilbreath

Billy Joe “Bill” Gilbreath, 75, of Whitewright, TX, was joyfully welcomed home by the Lord on July 22, 2026.

Born November 7, 1950, in Merkle, TX, Bill was the son of Huey and Floy Gilbreath and grew up with 10 siblings—4 brothers and 6 sisters. That big family shaped him into the kind, steady, giving man everyone knew him to be.

Bill built a beautiful life with his wife, Sharon, and together they raised two sons, Jerry and Brian. He worked many faithful years as a maintenance mechanic at Fisher Controls, but his greatest and most meaningful work was done in service to the Lord and his church family. As a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church, Bill lived out his faith with quiet strength and open hands. If someone needed help, he showed up. If someone needed encouragement, he offered it. His love for Jesus was unmistakable, and his love for his family was fierce, tender, and unwavering.

Bill leaves behind a legacy of faith, generosity, and deep devotion. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Gilbreath; his sons and their families Jerry and wife Stacy Gilbreath and Brian Gilbreath and wife Alyssa; and his grandchildren Trevor, Abigail, Bethany, Jeryn, Cloey, Emma, and Bristol. He also leaves behind three great grandchildren—Khyros, Lilith, and Tatum—who brought him so much joy. Bill is also survived by his sister Dian and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Huey and Floy Gilbreath; his brothers Clyde, Ronnie, Jerry, and Dewayne; and his sisters Alice, Dorris, Linda, Virginia, and Lorene.

Bill lived a life that reflected the heart of Christ—steady, humble, and full of love. His presence made the world gentler. His absence will be felt deeply. His memory will be cherished always.

A visitation was held from 6-8 PM, Friday, July 24, 2026, at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home, 201 West Maple Street, Whitewright, Texas 75491.
