James Stephen Cuellar
James Stephen Cuellar of Collinsville, Texas passed away on May 29, 2026 at the age of 38. He was born on January 8, 1988 to Jeffrey and Greta Cuellar in Pasadena, California. The family moved to Gainesville in 1995. He graduated from Gainesville High School in 2006 and had just returned to school to work on his IT certification. He worked for Vizion Vending Company.
He married Sarah Lorrain Cartwright on October 6, 2012 in Gainesville, Texas and they have one son, Steven James Cuellar. James was an avid video gamer and loved podcasts, often joining groups and participating with people all over the world. He made many good online friends. More than anything, James loved his family and at gatherings would often set up his Play Station for a game of Quiplash by Jackbox TV. Together he and Steven enjoyed playing Roblox. He had a quick wit, loved a good joke, and his laughter was infectious. James loved life, was warm, generous and kind, which extended to being an organ donor as well.
James is survived by his wife, Sarah Cuellar; son Steven Cuellar; parents Jeffrey and Greta Cuellar; brothers Jonathan Cuallar; Philip Cuellar and wife Merecedes (MC); Uncles Curtis Kimbrel and wife Suzanne; Douglas Cuellar and wife Juli; David Cuellar and Jerry McWilliams. He is also survived by numerous cousins, extended family members, and infinite friends nearby and online. He is preceded in death by his grandparents and many loved ones on both sides of the family.
A service of Death and Resurrection will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 at First United Methodist Church, Gainesville at 2:00 p.m. to celebrate his life. The service will be live streamed on the Church FB page for those unable to come. A reception will be held at the church following the service.
