William Claire Bass III (Billy) (age 61) of Whitesboro, TX., passed away on March 21, 2026 of natural causes. 

Billy leaves behind his mother, Joyce Lewis (nee Jacobs/Bass) and step-father, Walter Lewis of Grayson County. 

Billy also leaves behind one son, William Claire Bass IV. Billy will be dearly missed by his sisters, Julie Blake (nee Bass) of Collinsville, TX., Kathy Jo Humphrey (Bass) of Chandler, AZ, Joan Reese (Willingham), Brenda Chan (Willingham), Shirley Gaiser (Willingham), and Bridget Capps (Willingham) of Grayson County. 

Billy is preceded in death by his father, William Claire Bass II of Collinsville, TX. his brother, Richard Bass of Whitesboro, his grandparents, Charles and Marlene Dooley of Whitesboro, as well as his brother, Joe Bass of Ohio.

A memorial service for Billy will be held at noon Saturday, June 6 at Cooke County Cowboy Church, 8207 US 82, Gainesville, Texas 76240.
