Richard Eugene Bass (age 57) of Whitesboro, passed away on February 6, 2026 of natural causes. 

Richard leaves behind his mother, Joyce Lewis (nee Jacobs/Bass) and step-father, Walter Lewis of Grayson County. 

Richard also leaves behind his two daughters, Kelly Simmons (Howard) of Washington and Cindy Howard of Texas, as well as one grandson, Bryan Simmons of Washington. 

Richard will be dearly missed by his sisters and brother, Julie Blake (Bass) of Collinsville, TX., Kathy Jo Humphrey (Bass) of Chandler AZ., Joan Reese (Willingham), Brenda Chan (Willingham), Shirley Gaiser (Willingham), Bridget Capps (Willingham) of Grayson County, and William Claire Bass III (Billy) of Whitesboro. 

Richard is preceded in death by his father, William Claire Bass II of Collinsville, TX. and his grandparents, Charles and Marlene Dooley of Whitesboro, TX. as well as his brother, Joe Bass of Ohio. 

A memorial service for Richard will be held at noon Saturday, June 6 at Cooke County Cowboy Church, 8207 US 82, Gainesville, Texas 76240.
