Patrick Lynn Lewter, 78, passed away on May 3, 2026 at Medical City Dallas, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on January 17, 1948, in Wellington, Texas, to Garnett “Bud” Lewter and Sylvia Wood Lewter, Patrick lived a life defined by dedication, service, and deep love for his family.
A graduate of Whitesboro High School, Patrick continued his education in Cooke County before beginning a distinguished career as a firefighter in 1970. For 32 years, he faithfully served with Station #41, rising to the rank of captain while also contributing his expertise in the alarm office and training center. His commitment to protecting others left a lasting legacy of courage and leadership.
Patrick found joy in golf, high school sports, and especially football. Above all, he was a devoted family man whose greatest pride was the love he shared with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
He is survived by his son, Craig Lewter and wife Sherry of North Richland Hills; daughter, Jennifer Anderson and husband Donny of North Richland Hills; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Kam Duhon, Madison Anderson, Dylan Anderson, Patrick Lewter, and Jack Lewter; great-granddaughter, Andi Duhon; brother, Max Lewter; niece, Mary McCallister; nephew, Jim Bruton and wife Dana; along with many beloved great-nieces and nephews.
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joe Lewter.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Dylan Anderson, Patrick Lewter, Jack Lewter, Kam Duhon, Jim Bruton, and Stephen Williams..
Funeral services honoring Patrick will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Rick Carney. Interment will follow at Dixie Cemetery. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Patrick was a person who always did what was right, guided by integrity, kindness, and honesty. He often uttered the phrase to his family “Do Right.”
