Charles ‘Charlie’ Ray Earnhart

Charles ‘Charlie’ Ray Earnhart
Charles (Charlie) Ray Earnhart, 79, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Lakeway, Texas. He was born on June 4, 1946, to Nevel Ray Earnhart, Jr. and Lucy Faye (Carney) Earnhart.
Charlie was raised in Whitesboro, Texas, where he attended Whitesboro schools and graduated with the Class of 1964. A strong student and athlete, he excelled academically and was well respected by classmates and teachers alike. He began his college education at the University of North Texas and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1971. He later received his MBA from the University of Dallas in 1978.
Charlie spent more than 30 years in the high-tech industry, beginning his career at Texas Industries in the late 1960s. He advanced quickly into management and went on to serve in senior executive roles for several companies. His career included extended assignments in the Far East, reflecting both his leadership and dedication. He retired in 2010 from Staktek, where he served as Senior Vice President of Operations.
In 1970, Charlie became a father to his son, Todd, who was the pride and joy of his life. Their bond was deep and enduring, shaped by countless phone calls, shared experiences, and a lifelong mutual respect.
Charlie married Sandra “Sandy” Pearson in 1989, and they shared 36 loving years together. He found his greatest happiness in time spent with family—working in his yard, traveling, and making memories with Sandy, Todd, his daughter-in-law Michelle, and his beloved grandchildren, Colton, Gage, and Mekenna. Family was always at the center of Charlie’s life.
A devoted University of Texas Longhorn and Dallas Cowboys fan, Charlie proudly displayed his loyalty, often through his choice of clothing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Nevel Earnhart, Jr.; his mother and stepfather, Faye and Herman Hugh Ragsdale; his grandparents, Nevel and Julia Earnhart, Sr., and Charles and Rebecca Carney; and his niece, Kelley Brooks.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra “Sandy” Earnhart; his son, Todd Earnhart; his daughter-in-law, Michelle Earnhart; his grandchildren, Colton, Gage, and Mekenna; his sister, Becky, and brother-in-law, Myron; and numerous cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at The 1906 Event Center, located at 204 East Main Street in downtown Whitesboro, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Austin Lighthouse for the Blind in Charlie’s memory.
