Katherine Michele Wims King, age 49 of Collinsville, entered eternity on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025.
She was born Nov. 7, 1977 in Houston, Texas to Mark Wims and Sherri Martin Smith.
She married Jason King in Start, Louisiana on Nov. 27, 2014.
Katie was a beloved daughter, wife and mother. Family members knew her as “My Everything,” “Mama Bear” and “Katie-Did.”
Her presence brought joy and comfort to family, friends and everyone fortunate enough to have known her. She could charm the world with her twinkling blue eyes and smile.
Born with an unwavering spirit and a kind heart, she touched countless lives throughout her life’s journey. Her legacy is reflected in the love she shared, the wisdom she imparted and the memories that will live on forever with her family.
Katie leaves behind cherished family members and friends, all of whom will miss her warmth, laughter and generosity. Her enduring love and guidance will continue to inspire those closest to her, carrying her spirit forward.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of 15 years, Jason Lynn King; daughter Wrynn Amelia King; son Ioan Evert King; her father Mark Wims and wife Paula of Idalou, Texas; mother Sherri Martin Smith and husband Brent of Collinsville; grandmother Jimmy Martin of Collinsville; sister Sarah Ann Wims and husband Jerry of Grapevine, Texas; brother Michael Patrick Wims and wife Daysha of Lubbock; brother Dustin Wayne Starks and wife Kaelan of Whitesboro; brother Joshus Brent Smith and wife Stacy of Kingston, Oklahoma; sister Challis Wims Long and husband Raymond of Midland, Texas; brother Jared Wims and wife Amanda of Lubbock; brother Fallon Wims of Idalou; sister-in-love Karen Stevens and husband Chip of Start, Louisiana; as well as a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Katie was preceded in death by many, many loved ones. We are sure however, her beloved Father-in-love Jerry King, and Grandfather Bill Martin met up with her right after Jesus.
Whether through acts of kindness, words of encouragement or moments of joy, Katie’s impact will never be forgotten. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the remarkable life she led and the indelible mark she made on all who knew her.
Katie loved nature, animals, flowers, growing vegetables, her five dogs, her horse and her chickens.
She loved photography and videoing and often used the above as her subjects. Katie had an awesome artistic eye.
Katie loved history — both world and American. She devoured books and was editor for her MeMe’s 21 authored books.
Katie played five musical instruments flute, piccolo, bassoon, oboe and piano. She could play almost any piece after hearing it only once.
She attended high school in Lewisville, Texas and graduated in 1995. She spoke fluent German and Russian and had a five-year Latin base study.
She interviewed her junior year of high school with the FBI to fill an interpreter position after graduation.
She decided instead to study at the University of North Texas for five semesters. Leaving to enter the trades industry in plumbing then lumber industry, after she became a skip tracer and background check specialist and car salesperson.
Leaving all jobs behind 15 years ago, she became “King Household Manager” and homeschooled her children until their graduation in 2024.
Katie fought a long, brave two-year battle with seizure disorder. She clung to hope to the very end that doctors would care enough to find the cause.
Her favorite place on earth was home with Jason, Wrynn and Ioan. They literally became her entire world.
Katie’s celebration of life will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at Waters Edge Church which is located at 3003 Belz Rd. Sanger, Texas under the direction of Pastor Chad Stephenson.
May Katie’s memory be a blessing and may we continue to honor her life through love, compassion and unity in spirit through Christ.
If you wish to do anything other than flowers we ask donations to be given in Katie’s honor to local animal shelters and or veterans assistance programs. Katie had great passion for both.
Holly’s Garden and Florist in Denton, Texas will be doing deliveries at the church on Saturday, Nov. 29, if you need an option.
