Georgia Marie Casper
Georgia Marie Casper was born on January 6, 1938, in Pope County, Illinois, to the late Rayford and Bess Billington. She married the love of her life, Michael J Casper, in 1957 and together they raised their four children in Elgin, Illinois.
Later in life, Georgia and Michael moved to Metropolis, Illinois, before settling in Gordonville, Texas, where she peacefully passed away on September 4th, 2025 surrounded by family.
Georgia was known for her warm heart, generosity, and devotion to her family and community. She proudly served as President of the Lady Elks and was a dedicated member in the Order of the Eastern Star. Beyond her community involvement, she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, always finding joy in family gatherings and simple moments of togetherness. She will be remembered for her unfaltering love, strength, and the many ways she touched the lives of those around her.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Michael J Casper, as well as her children: Tena (Dave) Hayward, Carol (Tom) Cumpata, and Michael R Casper. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Roath.
Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Jeremy Mullin, John Hayward, Stephanie Mullin, Melissa (Rob) Eberhardt , Janessa (Cody) Cumpata, Stephen (Lindsay) Mullin, Jacqueline (Richard) Maxwell, Eric (Jennifer) Cumpata, Clarissa (Ryan) Shea, Rayanna (Paul) Casper, and Justin Casper. She was preceded in death by her grandson Christopher Roath.
She was also blessed with Great-Grandchildren: Madelynn Eberhardt, Emily (Elliot) Schmaltz, Tyler (Mandi) Eberhardt, Isaac (Layla) Nuñez, Ian (Chrysta) Nuñez, Krista Eberhardt, Gauge Cumpata, Thomas Maxwell, Kylie Cumpata, Landen Eberhardt, Georgia Maxwell, Eleanor Maxwell, Brooklyn Cumpata, Adelynn Shea, Vivian Maxwell, and Samuel Shea.
Her love also carried on to the next generation with Great-Great-Grandchildren: Weston Schmaltz, Olivia Nuñez, and Oliver Schmaltz.
Georgia was preceded in death by her siblings John (Jeri) Billington, Malinda Jane Hoehn and Gene (Mary) Billington. She is survived by her sister Marlene (Jim) Street and brother-in-law Bob Hoehn.
In keeping with Georgia’s wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held at this time. The family invites those who wish to honor her to do so in their own meaningful way—by sharing a memory, offering a prayer, or cherishing time with loved ones.
