Billy Bob Johnson

Billy Bob Johnson, 96, of Collinsville, Texas, was called to his eternal home in heaven on Monday, August 18, 2025.

Billy Bob was born on December 16, 1928, in Gainesville, Texas, to Jim and Velma (Norvell) Johnson. He was a graduate of Collinsville High School and a member of First Baptist Church of Collinsville. He married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Cannon on January 5, 1947 in Oklahoma.  

Billy Bob worked for and was a manager of Montgomery Wards for over 38 years, beginning in 1947 with the company. He was a mason, a deacon, a Sunday school teacher and the church treasurer for over 30 years. After retiring from Montgomery Wards, he worked in real estate. He and Joyce loved to play and sing gospel music and performed at many of the nursing homes in the area throughout the years. He sang in the Billy Bob Johnson Band (no pay will play). He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved the Lord and his family very much.

He is survived by his daughter, Frieda Joyce Gutshall and husband, Terry of Marana, Arizona; son, Billy Dan Johnson and wife, Susan of Collinsville; and daughter, Bobette Gore and husband, Dennis of Grand Prairie; grandchildren, Damon Gutshall, Brent Gutshall, Wendy Gutshall, Fancy Dan Johnson, Thunder Bill Johnson, Dusty Johnson, Colten Johnson, Emily Gore, and Preston Gore, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and brother, Gary Johnson of Madill, Oklahoma, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Billy Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Velma Johnson, wife, Joyce Johnson, and five siblings. Pallbearers will be Damon Gutshall, Fancy Dan Johnson, Thunder Bill Johnson, Colten Johnson, Preston Gore, and Morgan Dean.

Funeral services honoring Billy Bob will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 25, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Collinsville, officiated by Rev. Tar Henderson. Interment will follow at Collinsville Cemetery. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025 beginning at 9:00 AM at the church.
