Kathryn Jane Barker

Kathryn Jane Barker, 82, of Whitesboro, Texas was called to her Eternal home on Sunday, July 27th, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and love.

Jane was born on December 18, 1942 in Cumberland, Maryland to Ernest and Bertha (Brant) Mitchell. She grew up in Cumberland and was a 1961 graduate of Fort Hill High School. She married, and then spent time in Bremerhaven, Germany where she gave birth to her first daughter, Susan. After returning from Germany, she made her home in Grove City, Ohio and later gave birth to her second daughter, Kristi. She moved to Haltom City, Texas in 1972, and eventually near Saint Jo, where she made many friends over the years. Later, she relocated to Gainesville, and this is where she met Garland Jackson, the love of her life. Together, they moved to Terral, Oklahoma, where they spent many happy years together. Her final years were spent with Garland, closer to family near Whitesboro, Texas.

Jane loved history, enjoyed collecting recipes, cooking, crafts, and crocheting. Her greatest joy was taking care of her family and providing a loving home for them. Watching Gunsmoke with Garland was something she enjoyed later in life. Jane embraced life with gentle kindness, always sharing her radiant smile and generous heart with those around her.

She is survived by her husband, Garland Jackson of Whitesboro; daughter Kristi Evans and husband, Ritchie of Gordonville; daughter, Susan Weed of Saint Jo; grandchildren Jadon Anderson, Jenson Anderson,  Madison Britain and husband,  Jared, Brandon Weed and wife, Paige; great-grandchildren, Jayley Britain, Camrin Weed, Cheyanne Britain, and Audrey Weed; sister, Patricia Delagrange and husband, John of Illinois; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Survivors also include special caregivers Lisa Adams, Haley Milligan, and Lisa Gloria, all of Whitesboro, Texas.
Jane was preceded in death by her father Ernest Mitchell, mother, Bertha Liller, and stepfather, Elmo Liller.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, in Terral, Oklahoma.
