Karen Brady Bomar
1958 - 2025

Karen Brady Bomar

Karen Brady Bomar, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of her family on June 11, 2025.  Though her time on earth has ended, her legacy of warmth, joy, and unwavering faith will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew her.

Karen was born on March 20, 1958, in Sherman, Texas, to James Carlos (J.C.) and Emma “Jane” Pitts Brady and raised in Gordonville, Texas.  A proud graduate of Whitesboro High School in 1976, she was crowned Homecoming Queen and voted “Most Friendly” by her classmates – an early sign of her joyful and compassionate spirit.  She married Terry Bomar on May 30, 1981, and worked for over 30 years at Northeast Water District in Gordonville, where her friendly nature and kind heart made her a cherished member of the community. A lifelong member of Gordonville Baptist Church, Karen’s faith was the foundation of her life.  She believed in the goodness of others, saw the presence of God in everyone, and lived with kindness, grace, and humility.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Jane Brady and her brother, Mike Brady.

She is survived by her husband, Terry; her children, J.C, (Lauren) Bomar and Sarah (Chris) Stephens; her beloved grandchildren, Brayden Bomar, Aybrea Barnes, Jace Bomar, Emma McKinney, Brooks McKinney, Camden Stephens, and Creed Stephens.

To her family, she was the most amazing Mom and “Meme” –a devoted presence in our lives, always cheering us on to be our best selves.  Some of her greatest joy was found in family, sunsets, sweet treats, beach vacations, and quiet moments at her family farm enjoying God’s creations.  There are no words to describe how much we will miss her presence in our lives but take comfort in knowing she is once again whole and with Jesus.  Her strength, love, smile and laughter will echo in our hearts until we see her again in heaven.

Pallbearers were Steve Pinkston, Brandon Hughes, Chris Stephens, Brayden Bomar, Camden Stephens, and Jace Bomar.

Funeral services honoring Karen were held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro, officiated by Rev. Rick Carney.  Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro.  A time of visitation for family and friends was held on Monday, June 16, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
