Jimmy Leon Loving, 85, of Gordonville, Texas was called to his eternal home on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
Jim was born on March 20, 1940 in Gainesville, Texas to Clayton Loving and Margie Ellen Pope. He married Bonnie Gibbs and together they raised four children.
After Bonnie passed away, Jim married Dorothy Davidson. He worked as an operator for Barnes Bros., and a driver for Chaney Trucking, and for Haliburton. Jim served on the Board for Grayson Collin Electric, Grayson County Housing
Authority, and the Gordonville Water Board. Through the years Jim and Bonnie built and lived in eleven different homes.
He enjoyed the building and putting together of things, taking things apart and putting them back together just
intrigued him. He worked puzzles and framed the finished project, he liked fishing, woodworking, coin collecting and dancing. His favorite pet was “Sugar”. He and Sugar took many adventures together on the golf cart, going to visit the neighbors and spending time talking.
Jim never met a stranger; he talked to everyone and would start a conversation with “Don’t I know you?” and then it would be off like the best of friends catching up.
His favorite time was spent with family around the holidays; he loved the Thanksgiving and Christmas desserts and posing for pictures with the ones he loved. He is affectionately known as PaPa Jim to his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Loving; daughter, Vickie Knabe and husband, Jammie; son, Billy Loving; daughter, Latresa King and husband, Bill; daughter, Pam Denison and husband, Larry, stepdaughter, Maria McBroom and husband, Delbert; stepdaughter, Deanna Newsom and husband, Rick; sister, Jayne Sweet and husband, Leslie, grandchildren, Sabrina Partain and husband, Brian; Derek King and wife, Sybil, Gina Zafar and husband, Jay; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Margie Simmons, wife, Bonnie Gibbs Loving, brother, Bobby Clark, and grandsons, Brandon Skaggs, and Christopher Lindsay.
Funeral services honoring Jim will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Gordonville. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held at 1:00 PM, just prior to the service, on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at the funeral home.
