Hildebrand makes top 10 finish at State meet
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcats senior powerlifter Olivia Hildebrand finished eighth at the Class 3A Division II State Meet last week at the Comerica Center in Frisco. She competed in the 181-pound weight class and lifted a total of 920 pounds— up two spots from her 10th place finish last year.

Area ballers named to THSCA academic all-state team
Several area senior basketball players, earlier this week, were named academic all-state selections by the Texas High School Coaches Association for the 2023-24 season. The Whitesboro Lady Cats were well represented with four team members earning honors. Olivia Hildebrand and Melanie Baldwin were on the second team while Chyanne Wing and Keely Hartless were honorable mention. On the boys’ side, Collinsville’s Parker Wells was on the first team roster.

Western Grayson County was well represented on this years’ All District Basketball rosters, as selected by the district coaches.

Lindsay edges Lady Bulldogs
The Tioga Lady Bulldog softball team fell to Lindsay Friday, March 15 with an 11-9 final on the road.   
Kyndal Whitley was 4-for-4 with two triples, four RBI and scored twice for Tioga.
Taffi Adams was 3-for-4 and scored twice. 
Channing Hurst was 2-for-4, drove in a run and scored twice.
Ainsley Denham was 2-for-4 with a double and drove in a run.
Kaylee Evans landed a home run.
Bella Dennis tripled, drove in a run and scored twice.
The loss took Tioga to 12-3 on the year and 3-1 in district play.

Tioga hammers Whitewright
The Tioga Bulldog baseball team were lights out in district action Friday, March 15 and notched an 11-0 district win over Whitewright at home in five innings. 
Sam Mott was 2-for-3 with a triple, five RBI and scored.
Cameron Askew threw a one-hitter with eight strikeouts and a walk.
Hayden Hilliard was 3-for-3 with a double, drove in three and scored once. 
Gage Anderson was 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored twice.
Landon Bingham walked and drove in a run and scored.
The win took Tioga to 7-5 on the year and 2-0 in district. They hosted Collinsville Tuesday. Results were not available as of press time. 

WHS pounds Pilot Point
The Whitesboro Bearcat baseball team went 2-0 against Pilot Point over Spring Break. 
Most recently, they downed them 12-0 in five innings at home on Wednesday, March 13.  
Landon Newkirk threw a two-hitter with nine strikeouts and two walks. He also went 2-for-4, drove in a run and scored once.
Maxx Parker was 3-for-4 with a double, drove in a run and scored three times.
Brayden Bomar was 2-for-2, walked, drove in two and scored.
Dax Martin was 2-for-3 with a double and scored.
Max Hinsley doubled, drove in a run and scored.
Colt Fagan singled, drove in a run and scored.
Troy Randall walked twice and scored twice.
The win took Whitesboro to 8-6 on the year and 2-0 in district. They hosted Paradise on Tuesday night. Results were not available as of press time.

Wildcats beat Rams
The Callisburg Wildcat baseball team topped S&S twice over Spring Break, most recently on the road Wednesday, March 13 with an 11-2 win on the road. 
Brody Colwell singled and scored once for the Rams. 
Eli Nortman singled.
Asher Zuniga walked and drove in a run.
Landon Lewis, Joe Orr and Nik Roseberry walked.
The loss took the Rams to 3-5 on the year and 0-2 in district play.
They hosted Pilot Point on Tuesday night. Results were not available as of press time.
Tripp Hazel singled for Callisburg.
The Wildcats fell to 8-6 on the year and 2-0 in district.

Pirates top Tom Bean twice
The Collinsville Pirates are 2-0 over Tom Bean after two wins over Spring Break. Most recently, they etched out a 6-0 win on the road Wednesday, March 13. 
Logan Jenkins threw a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts and a walk for the Pirates. 
He also went 2-for-3 with a home run, walked and scored twice.
Rylan Newman was 2-for-3 with a home run.
Colin Barnes singled and scored.
Peyton Davidson singled and drove in a run.
Cash Morgan drove in a run and scored once. 
The win took Collinsville to 15-2 on the year and 2-0 in district. 
They played Tioga Tuesday. Results were not available as of press time.

Lady Pirates topple Nocona
The Collinsville Lady Pirate softball team took care of Nocona Wednesday, March 13 on the road with a 16-3 final.
Devyn Elvington was 4-for-4 with four RBIs and scored three times.
Ashleigh Ortowski was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and scored twice.
Shelby Derzapf was 2-for-3, walked, drove in a run and scored three times.
Haidyn Bryson was 2-for-4 with a double and scored twice.
Tessa Vannoy was 2-for-3 and scored twice.
Addisyn McDonnell was 2-for-4 and scored twice.
Audrey Miller was 2-for-4.
Bailey Miller singled, drove in three and scored.
The win took Collinsville to 12-7 on the year and 3-1 in district. They hosted Tioga Tuesday night. Results were not available as of press time.

Cats pummel Pilot Point
The first Whitesboro Bearcat win over Pilot Point last week came with a 22-0 win on the road Tuesday, March 12. 
Dax Martin and Brayden Crockett combined for a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts and six walks.
Martin also went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and scored once.
Crockett also doubled and drove in three.
Brayden Bomar was 4-for-6 with a double, three RBIs and scored four times.
Landon Newkirk was 3-for-4 with a double, walked, drove in a run and scored four times.
Maxx Parker was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and scored three times.
Troy Randall was 2-for-4, walked, drove in a run and scored twice.
Camden Stephens was 2-for-2, walked twice and scored once. 
Jacob Knight walked twice, drove in a run and scored twice.
Max Hinsley doubled, walked, drove in two and scored twice.
Colten Cagle singled and drove in two runs.

C’burg run rules S&S
The Callisburg Wildcats opened their spring break series against S&S with an 11-1 win in five innings Tuesday, March 12.
Justin Petty singled and drove in a run for the Rams.
Eli Nortman singled.
Joe Orr walked and scored once.
The loss took the Rams to 3-4 on the year.
Weston Shoemaker doubled, drove in two and scored once for Callisburg. 

Tioga beats W’right on the road too
The Tioga Bulldog baseball team beat Whitewright 10-1 on the road Tuesday, March 12.  
Hayden Hilliard was 5-for-5 with a double, three RBI and scored once.
Johnny Dorpinghaus threw a two-hitter with nine strikeouts and two walks.
He was 2-for-4 with a double, walked and drove in a run.
Gage Anderson was 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and scored three times.
Sam Mott was 3-for-4 and scored twice.
Austin Norwood was 3-for-5 with a double, drove in a run and scored.
Slade Babbitt doubled, walked, drove in a run and scored twice.
Landon Bingham singled and drove in two.

Pirate skipper picks up 400th win
Collinsville head baseball coach Derrick Jenkins picked up his 400th career win when the Pirates beat Tom Bean 4-0 Tuesday, March 12. Jenkins took to social media that night to discuss the win.
“Who would have thought this 22 years ago?” he posted to Facebook. “I wish I could tag all the players and parents who have made this possible over the years. There’s no way I’m ever in this place without them.” 
Rylan Newman threw a four-hitter with 12 strikeouts and no walks against Tom Bean. He also doubled and scored once. 
Landon Carpenter was 2-for-2 with a double, walked, drove in a run and scored.
Jaxon Jenkins was 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
Logan Jenkins was 2-for-2 with a triple.
Garrett Trevino and Reed Patterson each singled.
