Don't be snookered, Grayson County

Don't be snookered, Grayson County

If your mailbox looks like mine, it is full of attack ads tearing down every candidate currently running. The ads rely on half truths hoping the reader won’t validate their claims.

The buyers of these ads know that if they can get you to read their message enough times, you will lean their way in the voting booth.

My question for you is this: Why should you trust the ads? Answer: If they are not from an organization you trust, you shouldn’t.

One of the ads I recently received was sent from a Political Action Committee (PAC) with ties to Senator Joe Lieberman. That ad is tearing down a Republican officeholder running for re-election. I have received several from this PAC with the same negative content.

Why should you trust former Democrat/Independent Senator Joe Leiberman from Connecticut when it comes to Republican Candidates in Texas? You shouldn’t.

The Primary elections were established so that the two parties can decide who is their pick to run in the general election (November 5, 2024). For many years the two parties played nice and would allow the two sides to compete without external influence. That is no longer the case.

It now seems that all is fair in Love, War, AND Politics.

Out of state and alternate party activists are spending unheard of amounts of money to influence our elections. Knowing that if they can change the primary winner, they can influence the general election. Our televisions, Internet browsers, smart phone applications, social media, text messages and mailbox are all prey to their tactics.

I encourage you to do your own research, contact the candidate directly. If they are an incumbent, review their voting record. All these things are online at our fingertips. There is too much at stake to take some unknown ad at face value. Remember to vote March 5.

Your vote is your voice – be sure and be heard.
