Co-op teacher Stacy Davis’ SCC class at S&S High School completed their unit on National Fire Safety Month with a field trip to the Whitesboro Fire Station on Oct. 27.
The group, which consists of 9th-12th graders, enjoyed a tour of the station, a close-up look at fire apparatus and a demonstration and explanation by Captain Alan Meek on fire safety equipment that firefighters wear.
“I was actually on duty when this group came through last year, so it’s fun to see some familiar faces today,” Meek said.
Davis said her class has been talking about fire prevention and fire safety this month. The Sadler Fire Department paid her class a visit recently to teach the high schoolers about fire prevention, like not leaving phones charging near pillows and other flammable materials.
“With this being National Fire Safety Month and Red Ribbon Week, we thought this would be a great field trip for our students,” Davis said.
Following the station visit, the class enjoyed lunch by 56 Deli and then spent time at Godwin Park.
