Lubbock Invitational
The Whitesboro cross-country teams earned top-four finishes in the Class 3A races at the Lubbock Invitational.
The Bearcats placed third with 150 points.
Jaxsen McBride led Whitesboro with a time of 17:48.6 to place 23rd, while Eric Flores was right behind in 17:49.4. Bentley Meals was 32nd in 18:07.5, Slade Prock was 38th in 18:18.8, Creede Newman was 51st in 18:40.6 and Chase Timulson placed 101st in 19:54.4.
The Lady Cats placed fourth with 129 points.
Nya Degraffenreed led the Lady Bearcats with an eighth-place finish in 12:51.2, while Karen Melchor was right behind in 13:03.7. Loretta Vawter was 21st in 13:20.2, Jasmin Hernandez was 43rd in 13:57.4, Paisley Blevins was 51st in 14:08.7 and Tammy Lope was 53rd in 14:12.8.
Wylie Showdown
The Whitewright Tigers won the team title in the small-school 5,000-meter race at the Wylie Showdown.
Whitewright finished with 15 points, ahead of Carrollton Creekview’s 40 points.
Jonathan Flores led the Tigers with a third-place finish in 18:47, while Logan Vehar was fourth in 18:58, Luke Mortensen was fifth in 19:05, Levi Sallas placed sixth in 19:26 and Bobby Reynolds was seventh in 19:59.
In the girls two-mile race, Kiara Espinoza was sixth with a time of 14:46, while teammate Emma Russey was eighth in 14:57. Carlie Shivers was 11th in 16:37 and Brooklyn Tinsley was right behind in 16:48.
Prairie Valley Invitational
Bells’ Teagan Middleton took the individual title and the Bells boys earned a runner-up finish at the Prairie Valley Invitational last weekend.
They boys teams placed second with 53 points.
Kasson Bradshaw led the Panthers with a time of 20:14.89 to finish fourth, while Will Douglas was right behind in 20:15.91. Sam Shirley took 10th in 20:57.22, Hayden Copeland was 29th in 26:22.73 and Ben Bland was 31st in 26:45.54.
