THS standouts declare future intents

Three Tioga High School (THS) student athletes signed college letters of intent last Wednesday in a ceremony held in the school gym.
Justice Babbitt will run track at Texas A&M Commerce and major in business management. Babbitt earned an academic scholarship that will cover 90% of her tuition costs.
At THS, Babbitt has lettered in cheer and volleyball (where she was named to the all-district and all-academic team) and has been a member of FCA.
While running track at Tioga, Babbitt has competed in the regional finals in the 100H, 300H, the 4X1 and the 4X4. She earned a bronze medal at the regional meet in the 300 H & the 4X1.
Hayden Hilliard will play football at Southwestern College in Kansas while earning his degree in business management. Hilliard earned a $35k football scholarship.
Hilliard was captain of the THS football team this past season and leaves Tioga as the single season/career leader in every passing category, becoming the first 3,000-yard passer and 40+TD in school history.
He was part of the first playoff win in THS history and was most recently voted to the Padilla Poll all-state team.
In addition to football, Hilliard has participated in basketball, baseball and track for Tioga. At Southwestern, he will have the chance to win a starting job this fall.
Jonah Grubbs will also play football at Southwestern College while earning his degree in business management. Grubbs earned a $32k athletic football scholarship and academic scholarships are still pending.
Grubbs leaves Tioga football with 1,535 all PRP yards, 25 total touchdowns, 126 tackles, five sacks and two caused turnovers. He also participated in basketball, baseball, track and tennis for THS.
Coach Blake McCulloch addressed the crowd of friends, family and faculty that were gathered in the bleachers for the presentation.
“Today is a visualization of what’s possible,” McCulloch said. “These students earned a cumulative $85k in scholarships. They set goals and worked hard. Freshmen, start thinking now about your future. The next four years are going to go by fast.”
