The Collinsville Church of Christ Ladies’ Bible Class will host its annual clothing swap on Thursday, Oct. 15 (8 a.m.-8 p.m.) and Friday, Oct. 16 (8 a.m.-noon) at the church fellowship building.
Anyone in the community is encouraged to come and see if there is anything they can use. There will be infants’, children’s, men’s and women’s clothing, shoes and accessories. There is no charge and no obligation involved.
In April of 2010, the Collinsville Church of Christ Ladies’ Bible Class decided that, for a special activity, it would be fun to clean out their closets and swap clothes with each other. That was the beginning of an annual event that has grown over the past 12 years to include the neighbors and friends of those in the class, as well as the entire community of Collinsville.
The concept is quite simple. Each person cleans out their closet and brings to the church building any clothing, shoes or accessories they no longer want. All the items are then put on display in the large fellowship room at the church. People can go through the items and take what they’d like.
At the conclusion of the clothing exchange, everything that is left will be donated to Arms of Hope, a children’s charity that operates Boles Home for Children and Medina Children’s Home.
