Tuesday morning, S&S CISD Superintendent Jeff Russell released a statement announcing the district has placed Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Dan Pike on administrative leave, pending an administrative review.
The decision came after allegations of a “verbally aggressive communication and conduct that may have contributed to a hostile work environment.” The statement assures the public that at no point were students exposed to a situation that threatened their safety.
“The district takes these concerns seriously and has a responsibility to ensure that all students and employees are treated with dignity, respect and professionalism,” Russell wrote in his statement. “The administrative leave will allow the district to conduct a thorough and appropriate review of the reported concerns. No final determination has been made at this time.”
While Pike is under review, Coach Gary Robinson will fulfill the role of Head Football Coach and Athletic Director. Robinson currently serves as the wide receiver coach and brings 29 years of coaching experience. Of that, 15 years were spent as a head football coach and athletic director in Texas and Oklahoma.
The district will provide no further details at this time, other than confirming that it is committed to “providing a safe, respectful and positive environment for our students, staff and community.”
