Last Friday was a good night for the S&S and Tom Bean football teams.
The Rams and Tomcats both picked up their first wins of the season in dominant fashion. S&S (1-1) bulldozed past Dallas Inspired Vision 68-0, while Tom Bean (1-1) walloped Cumby 67-0.
The Rams earned their win by gaining 462 yards of total offense — all on the ground. Eli Nortman rushed for 287 yards and five touchdowns on just 12 carries, while quarterback Joe Orr ran for 105 yards and three scores on three carries. Brightin McNabb added 70 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries.
S&S visits Nocona (2-0) at 7 p.m. Friday. The Indians have victories against Valley View, 22-0, and Archer City, 37-6.
The Tomcats clicked on all cylinders with quarterback Henry Cheek throwing for 259 yards and five touchdowns. Paxton Parrish had seven catches for 85 yards and three touchdowns, Cain Pearson caught five passes for 58 yards and a score and Jacob Lind added four catches for 54 yards and a touchdown.
A.J. Carney led all rushers with 76 yards and four touchdowns on 16 carries, while Slayton Farris ran nine times for 60 yards and a score.
Pearson led Tom Bean defensively with three interceptions. The Tomcats host Valley View (0-2) at 7 p.m. Friday.
HOWE (1-1) AT PILOT POINT (1-1)
Like S&S and Tom Bean, Howe picked up its first win of the season in dominant fashion last Friday. The Bulldogs pounded Bonham 55-13.
Receiver Riken Cross scored five touchdowns on five touches — four catches for 197 yards and four touchdowns and a kickoff return for his fifth trip to the end zone. Fellow receivers Aubrey Miller and Brodie Sellers each scored on their only catches of the night — from 24 and 19 yards, respectively.
Starting quarterback Deacon Bender was 4-of-8 passing for 139 yards, with all four completions going for touchdowns. Backup quarterback Rylan Strong led Howe in rushing with 98 yards and a score on six carries and was 2-of-2 passing for 101 yards and two touchdowns.
The Bulldogs visit Pilot Point at 7 p.m. Friday. The Bearcats are coming off a 24-19 loss at Mineral Wells.
GREENVILLE (0-2) AT VAN ALSTYNE (2-0)
Van Alstyne is coming off a 40-36 comeback victory at Aubrey last week. Quarterback Cason Howard led the way for the Panthers with 154 yards and three touchdowns rushing to go with 213 yards and two scores through the air.
Cayden Benedict had seven catches for 120 yards and a touchdown, while Tim Moore added a 47-yard touchdown reception. Xavier Vidaurri had a touchdown run for the Panthers, who host Greenville at 7 p.m. Friday.
The Lions enter the game on a 15-game losing streak.
LEONARD (0-2) AT POTTSBORO (1-1)
Brayden Sheffield accounted for more than 260 yards and four touchdowns of total offense in Pottsboro’s 38-17 victory against Farmersville last Friday. Sheffield passed for 211 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 52 yards and a score.
Corbin Robinson had seven catches for 121 yards and two touchdowns, Brady Wynn caught two passes for 57 yards and Levi Hackler added a 12-yard touchdown reception.
Wynn also had nine carries for 66 yards, while Brody Brudette rushed 13 times for 61 yards and a touchdown for Pottsboro, which hosts Leonard at 7 p.m. Friday.
CALLISBURG (0-2) AT TIOGA (0-2)
One team will pick up its first win of the season when Tioga hosts Callisburg at 7 p.m. Friday. The Wildcats suffered losses to Bowie, 40-0, and Millsap, 29-13, while the Bulldogs lost to Collinsville, 28-12, and Fort Worth Southwest Christian, 38-15.
In last Friday’s loss, Tioga quarterback Cole Boyd passed for 177 yards and a touchdown, while Jaxson Hurst led the Bulldogs in receiving with six catches for 79 yards and a touchdown. Jake David led Tioga on the ground with 83 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.
SHERMAN (0-2) AT LIBERTY CHRISTIAN (1-2)
Sherman looks for its first win of the season when it visits Liberty Christian at 7 p.m. Friday in Argyle. The Bearcats are coming off a 37-7 loss at Joshua last Friday.
Pierre Browlow scored Sherman’s only touchdown and finished with 72 yards on 16 carries. Daniel Ramos passed for 211 yards, and Trae Reason led Bearcat receivers with six catches for 65 yards.
DENISON (1-1) AT PROSPER RICHLAND (2-0)
Denison opens District 4-5A Division I play against Richland at 7 p.m. Thursday in Prosper. The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 44-40 loss at Decatur last week.
Paxton Neasbitt threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns, with Jashaud Sims leading the receiving corps with six catches for 153 yards and two scores. Gavin Mandrell had five catches for 33 yards and a touchdown, while Rashaun Dehorney led Denison in rushing with 49 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.
