Whitesboro - In the heart of downtown Whitesboro, a full‑scale floral shop is growing into something even more special. What began as a dream years ago has blossomed into a place that offers far more than flowers.

Today, the shop provides home décor, gifts, chocolates, candies, flower‑bar rentals and soon a six‑foot custom chocolate counter featuring Sweet Shop USA chocolates, a fudge counter and even Beth Marie’s ice cream.

With a traditional ice cream shop feel, customers will be able to enjoy a sweet treat, stroll downtown and take in the charm of the historic strip.

They’re also expanding into men’s tuxedo and suit rentals through Jim’s Formal Wear, making the shop a one‑stop destination for weddings, proms and special events.

As they prepare to move into a beautifully renovated building soon, owners James and Billie Jean Hayes hope to be settled and open by the end of the month.

The story behind the business is one of full‑circle moments and long‑held dreams. James owned Nosegay for more than 20 years in the very building they are now renovating. Nearly two decades ago, Billie Jean worked at Hedges Florist, and after she and James married, they often talked about their dream to own a flower shop together.

She returned to Hedges later on to help out and eventually purchased their floral department, moving it to Union Street in Whitesboro. Their business quickly grew, so they moved to downtown for a more accommodating space.

After a year in their current location, they are now preparing to move back into the newly renovated building where Nosegay was. It’s a meaningful return and a reminder of how far their dream has come.

They are proud to serve their community and honored to be part of people’s most meaningful moments, such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations and even goodbyes.

They love welcoming people in, listening to and encouraging them and being helpful in whatever season someone is walking through. Their shop has become a place of ministry for them, where they pray with customers and help speak hope into difficult situations.

From the beginning of their relationship, they’ve shared the belief that everything they do should glorify and honor the Lord, and Hayes’s Florist is no exception.

With exciting opportunities and hopeful hearts, Hayes’s Florist is ready to let God guide them in their new space and excited to bring their dreams to the community.

Whitesboro is growing, and they feel grateful to be part of that growth while meeting new people, creating new experiences and building something lasting.

They’re especially excited to involve their children in the business, creating a legacy they hope will continue for generations.
