This year’s Whitewright Public Library Summer Reading Program had a total of 595 participants for its programs: Rock painting, Tiny Art Show, Shark Week craft, Choctaw social dancing, Professor Brainius, Stuffie Sleepover, Touch-A-Truck, Robotics Camp, Cool School with Ms. Maria and Dallas Zoo Adventures.
The library couldn’t provide its programs without community support. These programs were sponsored by Legend Bank, Friday Women’s Club, Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home and two anonymous donations. Larry Williams at Trenton ISD coordinated the Robotics Camp while the Odeum Theater provided the space for the Dallas Zoo Adventures and Professor Brainius programs.
The library would like to extend a special thanks to local businesses who participated in this year’s scavenger hunt: Legend Bank, Whitewright Pharmacy, Mrs. Miranda’s Child Development Center and Preschool, Mr. Toro’s, Shell/Sonic, City Hall and the Whitewright Area Chamber of Commerce. Twenty-five people completed the town-wide scavenger hunt to receive a prize from a treasure chest and 61 completed the in-library hunt. There were also 13 people who completed the 100 book challenge.
The library extends its appreciation to the City’s Public Works, EMS, Police Department, Fire Department, American Red Cross and Les Branson for participating in the Touch-A-Truck program.

Join the library again next summer, with the theme “Mysteries Await at Your Library,” which invites readers of all ages to explore the fascinating world of mysteries through books, puzzles and library experiences.
