The City of Whitewright will host a Community Cleanup Day on Sept. 26 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. (or until receptacles are full).
Whitewright citizens are invited to bring items large and small to the City Barn at 401 S. Benedict. This is a wonderful opportunity to discard bulky items that cannot be picked up during regular sanitation services, such as appliances without freon, furniture, stoves, water heaters and sofas. Small items must be placed in disposable boxes or plastic bags. Lumber must be tied in bundles less than 50 pounds each.
Loose trash will not be accepted. Other items that will not be accepted include tires, motor oil, aerosols, weed killers, household chemicals, oil-based and/or latex paint, paint thinner or solvents, batteries, antifreeze, oil or oil filters, roofing shingles, cross-ties, concrete, bricks, rocks or dirt, TV or computer monitors and no items with freon.
Participants will be required to show proof of residency (bring a current water bill), and each household is limited to two loads of trash.
