On Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 5-8:30 p.m., El Patron in Collinsville will partner with the Collinsville Police Department (CPD) for a community night benefiting Ashten’s Compassion and the CPD’s annual Shop with a Cop event.
Each December, law enforcement officers from across western Grayson County come together to make Christmas a little brighter for local children through Shop with a Cop. Members of the Collinsville and Collinsville ISD police departments join officers and first responders from Southmayd Police and Fire departments, Tioga Police Department, S&S CISD, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Game Wardens for a special shopping trip at Wal-Mart in Sherman.
The event provides 100 children, nominated by local schools, churches and law enforcement officers, with the opportunity to shop alongside a law enforcement representative for Christmas gifts. Funds raised throughout the year make the shopping spree possible.
One of the ways Ashten’s Compassion and the CPD are raising funds for this year’s event is through a special community night at El Patron on Sept. 8. The restaurant has generously agreed to donate 20% of its sales during the event to support Shop with a Cop.
The CPD is encouraging families from across Grayson County and the surrounding area to come out, enjoy a meal and help fill the restaurant that evening. Proceeds will help provide Christmas gifts for children from Collinsville, Tioga, Whitesboro, Southmayd and other communities throughout Grayson County.
“This event is about enjoying great food and helping children,” Collinsville Police Chief Jon Cheshire said. “We’re thankful to El Patron for answering our call for help and giving us an opportunity to raise money for children across Grayson County. We hope everyone will come out, enjoy a great meal and help us make Christmas a little brighter for these kids.”
