On Aug. 13, the Collinsville Police Department swore in its newest Reserve Police Officer, Collin Fralicks.
Officer Fralicks recently graduated from the Texoma Regional Police Academy and will now begin his field training with the Collinsville Police Department.
Reserve Police Officers are licensed Texas peace officers who volunteer their time to serve their community, assisting with patrol, special events and other law enforcement duties.
The Collinsville Police Department currently consists of four members: Police Chief Jon Cheshire, two patrol officers and one officer in training. The department is working toward building its Reserve Officer force, with each member serving a minimum 16 hours per month, to increase coverage for the citizens of Collinsville.
“Once we secure a Reserve Officer, it takes a while to train these guys,” Chief Cheshire said. “They have to complete four phases of field training, the first two of which are 190 hours each. Building up our reserve force isn’t something that’s going to happen overnight.”
