On Thursday, Aug. 6, the speed limit on US 82 between Dixon Street and Independence Avenue will be permanently reduced from 45 mph to 40 mph. For those unfamiliar, the east end of the change is where the speed limit currently increases from 45 mph to 55 mph; the entire 45 mph is dropping to 40 mph. Message boards will be on site notifying the public of the speed limit change.
During this transition, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) urges drivers to pay attention to signs and follow the posted speed limit.
