Whitesboro’s Rory Hake was among the 1,996 students named to the Fort Hays State University Dean’s Honor Roll for the spring 2026 semester. The Dean’s Honor Roll includes undergraduate students only. To be eligible, students must have completed 12 or more credit hours and earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.60 for the semester. Full-time on-campus and online students are eligible.
Meanwhile, Gunter’s Saxon Dahle was among the 869 students at Utah Tech University named to the President’s List for the spring 2026 semester. These students showed remarkable academic expertise by attaining a semester GPA of 3.9 or higher and completed at least 15 credits.
At the University of Maryland’s Global Campus, Gordonville’s Mark Lasater and Sherman’s Christopher Melancon were among the more than 20,000 students named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2026 term. To be eligible for the honor, a student must complete at least six credits during the term, earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the term, and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at UMGC.
The University of Alabama also recently announced that a total of 14,306 students enrolled during the spring semester 2026 were named to the Dean’s List with an academic record of 3.5 (or above) or the President’s List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A’s).
Local students on the Dean’s List include Lake Kiowa’s Chase Woods and Van Alstyne’s Cameron Vanvuren and Kenneth Wells. Local students on the
President’s List include Gunter’s Burkleigh Coats and Van Alstyne’s Tanner Abbott and Margie Carson.
Abilene Christian University congratulates Dean’s Honor Roll students for the spring 2026 semester. Students earn Dean’s Honor Roll recognition by achieving a 3.6 or higher GPA while enrolled in at least 12 credit hours.
Local students who received this honor include Gunter’s Beckett Lytle (a sophomore majoring in finance) and Jason Villalobos (a junior majoring in integrated studies); Tioga’s Sarah Denton (a senior majoring in nursing); Whitesboro’s Ashley Surles (a senior majoring in psychology); and Valley View’s Kendall Harris (a freshman majoring in integrated studies).
At Texas Woman’s University, Sherman’s J’Lyn Wash was recently elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.
Wash is among approximately 20,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.
At Midwestern State University, Whitesboro’s Erik Wagner Rohwedder de Resende earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and graduated magna cum laude. Of the 606 undergraduate and graduate students in spring 2026, honor graduates receiving bachelor degrees included 68 summa cum laude, 76 magna cum laude and 68 cum laude. Honor requirements are a grade point average of 3.9-4.0 for summa cum laude, 3.7-3.89 for magna cum laude and 3.5-3.69 for cum laude.
Additionally, four graduates earned Redwine Presidential Scholar designation, seven were named Redwine Scholars and 14 earned Redwine Honors Scholar recognition. Sixteen students received President’s Medals for Excellence and three students earned dual degrees.
At Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Collinsville’s Molly Reid was named to both the Dean’s List of Academic Honors and the President’s Honor Roll. Students named to the Dean’s List achieved a grade point average of at least 3.5 out of a perfect 4.0 in all work attempted while enrolled in not less than 12 semester hours. The students listed on the President’s Honor Roll are undergraduates who have achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average in all work attempted while enrolled in not less than 12 semester hours.
The University of Mississippi’s Spring 2026 Honor Roll list included Cameron Caple of Gunter. Caple, in the B.A. in Allied Health Studies program, was named to the Dean’s Honor Roll, which is reserved for students who earn a semester GPA of 3.50-3.74. To be eligible for honor roll designation, a student must have completed at least 12 graded hours for the semester and may not be on academic probation during the semester.
The University of Mississippi also celebrated its more than 3,800 students who graduated in May 2026. Undergraduate and graduate candidates received degrees from the College of Liberal Arts, General Studies and schools of Accountancy, Applied Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Journalism and New Media, Law and Pharmacy.
Caroline Carter of Gainesville is one of the May 2026 graduates. Carter, who majored in Exercise Science, received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the School of Applied Sciences.
Sydney Avery of Gainesville also graduated. Avery, who majored in Management, received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the School of Business Administration.
Lastly, Karen Rutledge of Sherman was recently elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society, at Midwestern State University.
