Help us grow your community newspaper

Help us grow your community newspaper

Source: Vecteezy.com

I had a wonderful time last week getting to know folks in Whitewright, Tom Bean and Bells.

There are still many more of y’all that we must visit with as we are well underway merging the two legacy newspapers in Grayson County.

We are excited.

Along with all the merger announced last week, comes a great bit of planning (and replanning) on our part.

We want to know how to best serve our readers on all sides of the county while still maintaining individual community focus.

It is a balancing act, but one we are excited to undertake.

And it is a balancing act that is not entirely new.

Community newspapers have done this for years.

The good ones still do. I think we are one of the good ones.

Growing to serve more communities is an organic effort. It starts with the little things, and we can use your help.

To our folks on the east side of the county: you may notice on page 6 is our weekly devotional/church page.

This is a weekly feature where we include devotionals from ministers and a list of local churches at the bottom.

We need your churches included here.

Please reach out to us and let us know how to include your church information.

Church listings are free, and we rely on you to keep them updated.

Business owners: you will notice small ads on either side of those church listings.

These are from businesses specifically inclined to encourage readers to seek out a place of worship.

These partners see value in this church listing and want to support it.

If this is something that would interest you, as a church page supporter, please reach out to us, too.

This is probably the most affordable weekly advertising we offer, and it is a great community service.

The News-Record is the oldest newspaper in Grayson County.

We are the only family-owned newspaper left in the county, and the only broadsheet left, too.

A century-and-a-half of local publishers have long supported the faith community in our pages, and it is a legacy we are proud to carry on.

We enjoy providing varying points-of-view on faith from talented writers.

We are honored to give churches the ability to introduce themselves to the community and businesses the opportunity to support that.

It’s important to us, so please email or call me directly for more information.

Whether you are a church that needs to be included or a business that wants to support the effort— my email is [email protected] and my phone number is 903-564-3565.

Let’s visit soon.
