LOCAL BAND TO CUT FIRST TAPE
“Band of Faith,” a five- member group made up of brothers, will perform Sunday, June 30, at 7 p.m. during a special program at Bones Chapel Church.
The name “Band of Faith” came about because each musician attends a different church, yet they strongly believe that their faith binds them together.
The band consists of Dave Allen, who plays banjo; his younger brother Gary, who is the guitarist; Dave Holcomb on the harmonica; Alan Weir, the bass player; and Lester Haynie with the mandolin. Teresia Allen, Gary’s wife, handles the sound board for the group.
The group plays a combination of gospel and bluegrass with a feeling of deep spiritual commitment.
The Sunday evening performance will involve a live taping/recording session for the five musicians. Marvin Hundley, a professional recording sound mixer, will be directing the group’s Sunday night performance.
