Southmayd appoints WFD’s Alan Meek as part-time Fire Chief — Tuesday night, Whitesboro Fire Captain Alan Meek was sworn-in by Southmayd Mayor Debra Thompson as the city’s new part-time Fire Chief. Chief Meek will will continue to serve Whitesboro and will perform his Southmayd duties on his days off from Whitesboro. Meek has dedicated more than 23 years of service to the WFD, first as a volunteer and now as a career firefighter and captain. Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated professionalism and a commitment to public safety. Meek said he is excited to get started and to see what the future holds. “It’s a new day in Southmayd,” he said.
