As the spring semester comes to an end, several area students are being recognized for academic achievements at various colleges and universities.

Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) congratulates the following students on being named to the Spring 2026 President’s List. The spring terms run from January to May.

Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above for the reporting term are named to the President’s List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.

These students include:
- Gainesville’s Berenice Vega, Molly Erwin and Darrand Williams;
- Van Alstyne’s Emily Jarzembski, Dylan Brandon and Garey Matthews;
- Howe’s Jairo Rubio and Leah Gossett;
- Sherman’s Nesharo Braggs, Ava Brick-Koepf, Michael Martin, Katherine Hughes, Jacob Linton, Donald Williford, Jade Holland, Ami Gannaway, Suzy Daley, Brian Howard, Jared Tollett, Osric Angeles and Htet Lin.

The university also congratulates Sherman’s Heather Pollard, Dylan Walker and Kayla Jackson on being named to the Spring 2026 Dean’s List.

Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.500 to 3.699 for the reporting term are named to the Dean’s List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.

At South Plains College, Lindsay’s Brady Blackmon was named to the 2026 Dean’s List.

Blackmon was among more than 800 students named to the list. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 3.25 or higher and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Meanwhile, at Pennsylvania State University, Van Alstyne’s Brandi Holcomb was recently elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.

Holcomb is among approximately 20,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

At South Plains College (SPC), Lindsay’s Simon Thurman earned his Automotive Technology Certificate and Brady Blackmon earned his Welding Certificate.

South Plains College is a two-year community college that empowers students and transforms communities across the greater South Plains area of Texas. The institution offers innovative technical education, health sciences, continuing education and workforce development programs. SPC has proudly served the students of this area for over 65 years.

Stanislaus State proudly recognizes Shaelyn Pruiett from Gunter, majoring in business administration, for their outstanding academic achievements, earning them a place on the Spring 2025 Dean’s List. This prestigious honor is awarded to students who have demonstrated superior academic performance by maintaining a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the semester.

Lionel University is pleased to announce that Courteny Jones of Sherman, Texas has been named to the Chancellor’s List for the graduating class of 2026.

Jones’s accomplishment highlights consistent dedication and outstanding performance, placing her among the top scholars at Lionel University. 

Lionel University congratulates Jones on this distinguished honor and extends best wishes for continued success in future academic and professional endeavors.

The University of Wisconsin-Superior has named Kimber Kleinert of Sadler to the Dean’s List for academic achievement during the Spring 2026 semester. 

To be named to the Dean’s List, students must have completed 12 degree-seeking semester credits and achieved at least a 3.50 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).

Angelo State University (ASU) in San Angelo, Texas, has announced students achieving the Dean’s List designation for the 2026 spring semester.

To be eligible for the ASU Dean’s List, full-time undergraduate students must maintain a 3.25 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Local honorees include:
Tristen Hearn of Gainesville - Accounting
Deanna Links of Gainesville - Social Work
Chelsey Ross of Sherman - Social Work
Morgan Stanfield of Van Alstyne - Social Work
Ashley Yeary of Whitesboro - Education

ASU also conferred 901 undergraduate and graduate degrees on 891 graduates, including Jaqueline Long of Van Alstyne, during the 2026 Spring commencement exercises on May 15, 2026, at the Junell Center/Stephens Arena in San Angelo, Texas.

Long earned a Master of Arts in Administrative Leadership.
