Plans are underway for Keep Whitesboro Beautiful’s (KWB) annual summer social meeting. In the past, this meeting has been an ice cream social. This year, it will be a Beach Party Picnic. Members are asked to bring picnic items like sandwiches, salads, chips, desserts and drinks. After the picnic, KWB will perform a skit and host a game of Bingo. The public is invited to attend the meeting on July 9 at 6 p.m. at First United Methodist Church Wesley Hall.
KWB’s May meeting was moved to May 21 so as not to conflict with the Whitesboro Community Choir’s concert. Those in attendance reviewed the results of the recent Electronic Waste Recycling event, which brought in $501.11 for the organization. A check from the Whitesboro High School e-Waste collection is expected soon but the amount was not available.
Chairman Joyce LaPorte reported that the Highway 56 cleanup held on May 21 went well. Volunteers spent three hours and gathered 13 bags of trash and a car bumper.
Members also confirmed KWB committee chairmen, which include:
Decorations - Carla Woolsey, Patricia Davis and Laura Marchessault
Annual KWB Gala - the Board of Directors
e-Waste - Kyle Maynard
Highway Clean-up - Joyce LaPorte
A Booth Chairman is still needed for the annual Peanut Festival.
KWB is currently seeking new members and encouraging formers members to renew. The next general meeting will be on June 4 at 6 p.m. at FUMC Wesley Hall.
