Bearcats run to State 
The Whitesboro Bearcat track program sent multiple runners to State after peak performances last week in the Regional meet at Whitehouse.
The Class 3A State meet is on May 14 at the University of Texas’ Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Whitesboro’s Brylee Weddle won the 400 with a time of 56.50 seconds. It is the second time in three seasons, first as Region champ, that she advanced to State.
The 1,600 relay of Shelby Riddle, Aubrey Beam, Paisley Blevins and Weddle took third in 4:05.51.
Beam was part of a seven-way tie in the high jump at four feet, 10 inches and Alexis Barrios Chavez was in a four-way tie for 13th at four feet, eight inches.
Across the area, S&S’ Tabi Jordan was 11th in the shot put with a throw of 31 feet, four inches.
Dandree Meeks also competed in the 800 with a time of 2:34.38 and the 1,600 in 5:58.21.
On the boys’ side, Whitesboro’s Zander Brannan was fourth in the pole vault by clearing 14 feet and fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:02.95.
Wyatt Winchester finished fourth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 40.24 seconds.
The 1,600 relay of Rhett Fagan, Camron Howard, Winchester and Aidan Brinlee was fifth in 3:26.01.
Howard was part of a four-way tie for eighth in the high jump at six feet.
Ayden LaSalle was eighth in the shot put at 45 feet, 11 inches.
S&S’ Donaven Gingras competed in the 800 and had a time of 2:06.42.

Bulldogs dominate regional relays 
The Tioga boys and girl track teams dominated the relays at last week’s Regional track meet at Springtown.  
The Class 2A State meet is on May 15 at the University of Texas’ Mike A. Myers Stadium.
The Tioga boys, who are the defending 2A State champions, finished runner-up with 66 points.
The 400 relay of Jaxson Hurst, Greeley McAden, Quesyn Arrington and Justin Arrington was the runner-up with a time of 42.77 seconds. Haskell won in 42.45 seconds.
The 800 relay of Jake David, Noah Vazquez, Quesyn Arrington and Justin Arrington won with a time of 1:27.45.
The 1,600 relay of Vazquez, Kyson Kirkland, Quesyn Arrington and Justin Arrington won in 3:17.89.
Bryson Bradley was fourth in the shot put at 49 feet, 1.75 inches.
Kirkland finished fourth in the 400 with a time of 51.19 seconds.
Jayson Stogner was fifth in the pole vault on a tie-breaker at 12 feet, six inches.
Raul Chavez was seventh in the 300 hurdles with a time of 41.88 seconds.
Hurst was eighth in the 100 with a time of 11.53 seconds.
Alexis Santoyo-Pina was seventh in the 1,600 with a time of 4:44.91 and Garrison Black was 11th in 4:53.85.
Across the area, Collinsville had two fourth-place finishes.
Russell Carney was fourth in the discus with a throw of 160 feet, six inches and Cooper McMillan was 11th at 135 feet, eight inches.
Fernando Perez was fourth in the 1,600 with a time of 4:39.08.
Isaiah Smith was sixth in the 800 at 2:03.45.
Jose Ramirez was 11th in the 3,200 with a time of 10:50.26.
On the girls side, Tioga took third with 60 points— all of which came on wins in the relays.
The 400 relay of Timber Johnson, Ella Norwood, Bella Dennis and Kyndall Whitley won with a time of 48.86 seconds.
The 800 relay of Johnson, Dennis, Norwood and Whitley won with a time of 1:43.31.
The 1,600 relay of Jillian Rodriguez, Maddy Schon, Norwood and Dennis won with a time of 4:01.19.
Johnson was eighth in the 200 in 27.38 seconds.
Collinsville’s Zoey Kays finished 11th in the 800 with a time of 2:38.83.

Lady Cats sweep Area
The Whitesboro Lady Cat softball team swept their way through the Area round of the post-season last week with back-t0-back wins over Winnsboro at Farmersville. 
They sealed the deal with an 11-1 win in game two and punched their ticket to the Regional Semi-finals. 
They opened against White Oak Thursday at Lone Oak. Results were not available as of press time. 
Game two will be at 6:30 p.m. tonight in Lone Oak. 
If needed, game three will be at noon on Saturday in Lone Oak.
The Lady Cats set the pace against Winnsboro with a 5-2 win in game one. 
Cameron Ortiz went 3-for-3 with three doubles, walked and drove in four runs. 
Jenna Cole went 3-for-4 with a triple and drove in a run.
Reagan Downs went 3-for-4 and scored twice.
Avery Howerton allowed two earned runs on seven hits with 11 strikeouts and a walk.
She also walked twice and scored.
Fallon Perkins doubled and scored.
Kayden Thomas singled and walked.
Breighlin Rupert walked and scored once. 
Whitesboro enters the semis with a 26-9 season record.

Pirates sweep Celeste 
The Collinsville Pirate baseball team kicked off the 2026 playoff campaign, and what it hopes will be a fourth straight trip to Dell Diamond with a sweep of Celeste last week. 
They took Game 1, 17-1, in five innings at Prosper Rock Hill and made short work of the Bi-District round. 
Jaxon Spivey threw a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts, three walks and hit a batter.
He also singled, walked, drove in a run and scored twice.
Paxton Davidson doubled, walked three times and scored three runs.
Caysen Schafer went 2-for-3 with a double, hit by a pitch, drove in a run and scored. Peyton Davidson singled, walked and scored twice.
Luke Sheppard walked twice, was hit by a pitch and scored once. 
Rider Patterson scored twice.
It was a similar story in Game 2, which ended with a 14-1 final. 
The wins took Collinsville to 19-2 on the year. 
They have won 12 straight since the last of its losses in District play against Tom Bean.
They opened up the Area round Thursday against Windthorst at Denton High School. Results were not available as of press time. 
Game 2 is tonight at 5 p.m. — also in Denton. If needed, Game 3 will follow.

Lady Rams rout Boyd
The S&S Ram softball team is on to the Regional semis after a sweep of Boyd last week in Denton. 
They ended Game 2 with a 7-1 win. 
Hayden Mowrey allowed a run on six hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
She also tripled, walked twice, drove in two and scored twice.
Lana Walters homered, walked twice and scored three times.
Saryn Dowell singled and drove in a pair.
Hayden Kight singled, walked twice and drove in a run.
Hannah Foster walked and scored twice.
The Rams are 26-7 going into the semis tonight, in a one-and-done attempt, against Hooks.
First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. at Community.
They opened Game 1 against Boyd with an 11-0 win in six innings. 
In that affair, Lana Walters went 2-for-3, walked, drove in four and scored twice.
Brynlee Mullican went 3-for-4 with a triple, drove in a run and scored.
Mowrey went 2-for-3, walked twice and drove in a run.
She also threw a three-hitter with eight strikeouts and a walk.
Dowell singled, walked, drove in two and scored.
Tynslie Adcock singled, walked twice and scored.
Foster singled, walked and scored twice.
Brooklyn Sterling walked, drove in a run and scored.
Kight singled and drove in a run.
