Saturday was Election Day for local city councils and school boards, and several incumbents were unseated by their challengers.
In Whitesboro’s municipal election, Jessica and Ben Edwards were the top two vote-getters. The husband-and-wife combo unseated incumbents Mike Pack and Ronnie Fielder on Whitesboro City Council. Incumbent alderman David Bertino retained his place on the council.
Ten people vied for three seats in the at-large election. Vote totals are:

In Collinsville, former mayor Derek Kays is set to re-enter elected office after ousting incumbent Collinsville School Board member Matt Weaver by double the amount of votes in Saturday’s election.
Kays took 67% percent of the electorate with 126 total votes. Weaver received 60 votes.
In Southmayd’s City Council election, challengers Millie Rutherford and Robert “Gene” Davis were first and third, respectively. Incumbent Matthew Tanner retained his seat. Vote totals are:

In Tioga, incumbent Heather Nesmith retained her Place 5 seat in a landslide against challenger Patty Wheeler, with 130 votes to 29.
