Bearcat tennis bound for STATE
The Whitesboro Bearcat tennis program placed a pair of State qualifiers Monday after the Regional Tournament in Tyler.
The boys’ doubles team of Jacob Hughes and Garrett Greenfield punched their ticket along with Lauren Muntz.
They all took the third-place in their respective brackets.
The 3A State tourney will be May 7-8 at Northside ISD in San Antonio.
Hughes and Greenfield won the third-place boys doubles contest over Troup’s Hugo Rubio and Jesus Sanz Escribano, 6-4, 6-4.
Muntz won her third-place match, 6-0, 6-2, over Chapel Hill’s Brooklyn Buchanan to advance to State.
She reached the semifinals before a 6-3, 6-1 loss against top-seeded Emma Dygert of Tatum.
In boys singles, Whitesboro’s Elijah Barrett reached the quarterfinals before a 6-2, 6-0 loss against Chapel Hill’s Cain Bailey.
Ella Stanley and Rip Harper lost in the first round, 7-6 (7-5), 7-5, to Texarkana Liberty-Elau.
Lady Cats on the post season
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcat softball team pounded Pilot Point on Friday with a 15-0 final in four innings.
Avery Howerton went 4-for-4 with two home runs, four RBIs and three runs. She also threw a one-hitter with nine strikeouts and no walks.
Jenna Cole was 2-for-3 with two home runs, five RBIs and scored three runs.
Cameron Ortiz went 2-for-2 with a home run and a double, walked and scored twice.
Breighlin Rupert went 3-for-3, drove in a run and scored twice.
Kennadi Fuller singled, walked, drove in two and scored once.
Kaydence Thomas walked, drove in a run and scored.
Fallon Perkins singled and scored.
The win took Whitesboro to 22-9 on the year and 9-3 in district play.
They opened the playoffs Thursday at home against Dallas Madison.

Lady Rams slam Howe
The S&S Lady Rams blew out Howe Friday with a 20-0 win in three innings.
It was good enough to earn them a share to the district title.
Izzie Talamantes went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple, five RBIs and scored.
Brooklyn Sterling went 2-for-2 with a homerun, two RBIs and scored twice.
Brynlee Mullican threw a two-hitter with six strikeouts and no walks.
She also doubled, walked twice, drove in three and scored once.
Tabi Jordan went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and scored three runs.
Hayden Mowrey doubled, walked twice, drove in a run and scored twice.
Saryn Dowell and Dandree Meeks each singled, drove in a run and scored.
Hannah Foster walked twice, drove in a run and scored three times.
The win took S&S to 23-6 on the year and 10-2 in district play.
They will share the district title with Gunter and Bells.
They faced Bells in a post season seeding game Tuesday at Sherman High School.

Lady Pirates end year with a loss
The Collinsville Lady Pirate softball team ended their season Friday with a 10-2 loss to Honey Grove at home.
Rilee Stewart went 2-for-3 with a double.
Bailey Miller singled and drove in a run.
Zoey Kays singled, walked and scored.
Jaydee Matlock singled and walked.
Ashleigh Ortowski singled and scored.
They ended the year 3-17 with 2-13 district record.
Cats pick up second straight win
The Whitesboro Bearcat baseball team picked up a second district win of the year when they topped Valley View 13-1, in five innings, Friday on the road in district action.
Wyatt St. John threw a one-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks.
Brody Colvin went 4-for-4 and scored three times.
Jace Bomar went 2-for-3 with four RBIs.
Justin Knight went 3-for-4, drove in a run and scored once.
Ayce Nelson went 2-for-3, walked, drove in two and scored twice.
Korbin Ross went 2-for-4 with a triple, drove in a run and scored twice.
Andrew Quick doubled, walked, drove in two and scored twice.
Wyatt Winchester went 2-for-3, walked and drove in a run.
Brayden Johnson singled, walked and scored once.
The win took Whitesboro to 7-16 on the year and 2-8 in district play.
They played at Bonham on Saturday.
Pirates edge Honey Grove
The Collinsville Pirate baseball team topped Honey Grove 1-0 Friday at home in district play.
Jaxon Spivey threw a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks.
Paxton Davidson singled and scored.
Caysen Schafer drove in the run.
Peyton Davidson singled and walked.
Nate Hicks walked twice.
The win took Collinsville to 14-2 on the year and 12-2 in district play.
They hosted Whitewright on Tuesday.
Bulldogs beat Savoy, drop to Pilot Point
The Tioga Bulldog baseball team run-ruled Savoy at home on Friday with a 15-0 win in district play.
Kai Goree threw a two-hitter with three strikeouts and a walk.
He also went 2-for-2 and walked.
Cameron Askew doubled, walked, drove in two and scored twice.
Luke Roberts doubled, walked, drove in two and scored twice.
Karson Stewart doubled, drove in two and scored.
Logan Netterville doubled and drove in a run.
Maddox Hurst singled, walked and scored.
Calan Sweeney walked, drove in a run and scored.
Hayden Roberts scored twice.
The win took Tioga to 6-18 on the year and 3-11 in district play.
The Bulldogs also suffered a 13-9 loss against Pilot Point in non-district action.
In that affair, Luke Roberts doubled, walked three times, drove in two and scored once.
Askew tripled, walked, drove in three and scored.
Stewart went 2-for-4 and scored.
Hayden Roberts walked twice, drove in a run and scored once.
Netterville walked twice and scored twice.
Sweeney walked twice and scored.
Bearcat runners on to region
The Whitesboro Bearcat track teams each had top-five finishes last week at the Class 9-3A/10-3A area meet held in Whitesboro.
The top four in each event advanced to the Class 3A Region II meet at Whitehouse on May 1-2.
The Bearcats were third in the team ranks with 68 points.
Zander Brannan won the 800 with a time of 2:04.03.
He also won the pole vault at 14 feet, three inches.
Wyatt Winchester won the 300 hurdles with a time of 39.69 seconds.
The 1,600 relay of Colt Fagan, Scout Regealen, Camron Howard and Winchester was the runner-up in 3:25.61.
The 800 relay of Aidan Brinlee, Fagan, Howard and Regealen was third in 1:31.35.
Ayden LaSalle was fourth in the shot put with a throw of 45 feet, 10 inches.
Howard was fourth in the high jump at six feet.
Rhett Fagan was fifth in the 400 with a time of 53.49 seconds.
The Lady Cat squad took fifth with 55 points.
Brylee Weddle won the 400 with a time of 57.39 seconds and was the runner-up in the 200 in 27.06 seconds.
The 1,600 relay of Shelby Riddle, Aubrey Beam, Paisley Blevins and Weddle won with a time of 4:08.74.
Alexis Barrios was the runner-up in the high jump.
Beam took fourth in a three-way tie-breaker at four feet, 10 inches.
The 800 relay of Shelby Riddle, Karina Riddle, Beam and Reagan Downs finished fifth in 1:54.73.
Bulldogs, Pirates advance to Regional meet
The Tioga boys track squad won the team title at the area meet last week with a total of 120 points.
Collinsville was seventh with 37 points.
The top four in each event advanced to the Class 2A Region II meet at Springtown on May 1-2.
The Bulldogs led by four gold medal finishes.
The 400 relay of Jaxson Hurst, Josh Fitzgerald, Ruben Ngene and Greeley McAden won with a time of 43.47 seconds.
The 800 relay of Justin Arrington, Fernando Perez, Noah Vazquez and Boston Holbrook won in 1:30.90.
The 1,600 relay of Maddox Rodriguez, Quesyn Arrington, Anibal Becerra and Kyson Kirkland won in 3:22.52.
Garrison Black won the 1,600 with a time of 4:43.28 and Alexis Santoyo-Pina was the runner-up in 4:46.47.
Bryson Bradley was the runner-up in the shot put at 47 feet.
Jayson Stogner was the runner-up in the pole vault at 11 feet, six inches.
Kirkland was the runner-up in the 400 with a time of 51.52 seconds.
Hurst was third in the 100 with a time of 11.26 seconds and August Strittmatter was fifth in 11.27 seconds.
Vazquez was third in the 200 in 23.57 seconds while Hurst was fifth in 24.06 seconds.
Raul Chavez was fourth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 41.83 seconds.
Collinsville was led by Russell Carney’s win in the discus with a throw of 161 feet, nine inches.
Isaiah Smith was the runner-up in the 800 with a time of 2:01.87 and fourth in the 400 with a time of 52.88 seconds.
Fernando Perez finished fourth in the 1,600 with a time of 4:49.71.
Perez was fourth in the 3,200 with a time of 10:47.56 and Jose Ramirez was fifth in 10:49.76.
Cooper McMillan was fourth in the discus at 136 feet, six inches and sixth in the shot put at 42 feet, one inch.
Lady Bulldogs run to regionals
The Tioga Lady Bulldog track team took second last week at the Area Meet with 76 total points.
Collinsville was 14th with six points.
The top four in each event advanced to the Class 2A Region II meet at Springtown on May 1-2.
Tioga was led by wins in all three relays.
The 400 relay of Timber Johnson, Ella Norwood, Bells Dennis and Kyndall Whitley won with a time of 49.67 seconds.
The 800 relay of Johnson, Dennis, Norwood and Whitley won in 1:44.84.
The 1,600 relay of Jillian Rodriguez, Maddy Schon, Norwood and Dennis won in 4:08.78.
Whitley was the runner-up in the 200 with a time of 26.36 seconds and Johnson was fifth in 27.94 seconds.
Collinsville’s Zoey Kays was third in the 800 with a time of 2:35.52.
Tioga golfer places at regional tourney
Tioga’s Emerson Moore finished sixth at the Class 2A Region II Golf Tournament at the Old Brickyard Golf Course in Ferris last week.
She followed her opening round 85 with an 86 for the two-day total of 171, which was 29-over par.
She was 16 strokes out of the top five and 21 shots behind a tie for third.
Cats pick up win over Valley View
The Whitesboro Bearcat baseball team picked up a long-sought district win last week with an 11-1 win over Valley View at home.
Wyatt Winchester threw a two-hitter with four strikeouts and four walks.
Ayce Nelson went 2-for-3 with two doubles, walked, drove in two and scored three times.
Jace Bomar went 3-for-4 with a double, drove in a run and scored once.
Brayden Johnson doubled, walked, drove in a run and scored once.
Brody Colvin singled, walked and scored twice.
Justin Knight singled, walked and scored once.
Aydan Falcon singled and drove in a run.
The win took Whitesboro to 6-16 on the year and 1-8 in district play.
They played Valley View again on Friday.
Pirates punch ticket to post season
The Collinsville Pirate baseball team topped Trenton last week 5-0 in district play. In doing so, they advanced to 13-2 on the year and clenched a playoff spot.
Caysen Schafer threw a three-hitter with nine strikeouts and two walks.
He also singled and walked.
Paxton Davidson went 2-for-3 with a double, walked, drove in a run and scored twice.
Nate Hicks walked three times and scored once.
Peyton Davidson walked twice.
The win took Collinsville to 11-2 in district play.
They hosted Honey Grove on Friday.
Tioga tops Whitewright
The Tioga Bulldog baseball team topped Whitewright 8-4 last week on the road in district play.
Calan Sweeney went 2-for-4 with a double.
Cameron Askew went 3-for-4, drove in a run and scored once.
He also allowed an earned run on seven hits with eight strikeouts and two walks in six and two thirds innings.
Caleb Moncrief went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and scored once.
Jesus Enriquez doubled, drove in a run and scored once.
Luke Roberts singled, walked and scored twice.
Maddox Hurst walked three times and scored once.
Karson Stewart walked and drove in a run.
Hayden Roberts walked and scored once.
The win took Tioga to 5-17 on the year and 2-11 in district play.
They hosted Savoy on Friday.

The S&S Lady Ram softball team fell to Gunter 9-7 last week in extra innings.
The Gunter win promises them at least a share of the 11-3A title as they ended the regular season on the district bye.
S&S and Bells were set to force a three-way tie atop the toughest district in the state in their season finales on Friday.

Hayden Kight went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and scored once.

Skilar Hodge walked twice and scored twice.
Tioga ended the year 8-17 and 3-12 in district.
The Whitewright win clenched a playoff spot for the Lady Tigers.
