The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) officials have announced upcoming full closure of the southbound frontage road beginning at 7 a.m. on April 20, 2026, until the end of June 2027.
The closure will be between the southbound exit ramp to Loy Lake Road in Sherman to the southbound entrance ramp from FM 691.
This closure is to permit the permanent reconstruction of the frontage road. Detours will be posted around the work zone. TxDOT recommends traveling an alternate route during this closure.
During this period, TxDOT urges drivers to exercise caution. Motorists who travel frequently in this area are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls, and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems. TxDOT also asks drivers to remain alert to road crews while navigating through the construction zone.
