The Gordonville Volunteer Fire Department’s (GVFD) 4th annual BBQ Cookoff on March 28 not only raised money for a good cause, but it brought the community together for good food and lots of fun.
Set-up began on Friday, March 27 at noon and entrants paid $25 per meat (two meat minimum) to participate for the chance to win a portion of a $4,000 payout. Categories included brisket, pork ribs, chicken, beans and dessert.
On Saturday, March 28, the public was invited to gather for an afternoon of food and entertainment. Attendees could enjoy a car show at 1 p.m. and live music by Zach Page was performed throughout the event. At 5 p.m., visitors could pay $10 per adult plate and enjoy the delicious food that the cookoff entrants had prepared.
“We are very pleased and humbled with the support of our community and sponsors,” Gordonville Fire Chief Josh Palmer said. “With the sponsorship donations we were able to award prize money, trophies and beautiful cutting boards for the first, second and third place (cookoff) winners.”
