The Greater Texoma Jazz Orchestra will perform its spring concert at the First Baptist Church in Whitesboro on Tuesday, April 7.
This season’s program celebrates the music of the Count Basie Orchestra, one of the most influential ensembles of the Swing Era.
The concert highlights classic repertoire and landmark big band arrangements that helped define the jazz orchestra tradition and continue to influence performers worldwide.
The Greater Texoma Jazz Orchestra features students, faculty and community musicians from across the Texoma region and is now under the direction of Dr. Andrew Wright, a faculty member at Austin College and Grayson College. While the group is under new leadership, it still has the same amazing sound audiences know and love.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
