Locals named to All-District basketball teams
Whitesboro, Collinsville, S&S, Collinsville and Callisburg were represented well on the recently released all-district 10-3A boys basketball team roster.
Bearcat sophomore Ian Brice was named district Newcomer of the Year.
First Team honors went to Callisburg’s Caden Whittington and Logan Grisham.
Second team included:
Wyatt Winchester, Jr., Whitesboro and Gabe Zinski, Sr., Callisburg.
Academic all-district honors went to Whitesboro’s Rhett Fagan, Colt Fagan and Aidan Brinlee.
In District 11-3A junior Joe Orr, from S&S, received 2nd team honors
Honorable mention went to teammates Donoven Gingras and Carter Ross.
In District 13-2A first team nods went to Collinsville’s Chad Davidson and Ryder Robinson along with Tioga’s Ramsey Washington.
Honorable mention from Tioga included Kyson Kirkland, Wesley Wilmon and Zander Zafar.
Collinsville honorable mention nods went to Paxton Davidson, Carter Larance, Caysen Schafer, Jaxon Spivey and Isaiah Smith.
Academic All-district honors went to:
Collinsville – Drew Brown, Chad Davidson, Paxton Davidson, Ryder Robinson, Caysen Schafer, Isaiah Smith and Briar Whisenant.
Tioga – Kyson Kirkland, Raul Chavez, Ramsey Washington.
Bearcats drop to Pilot Point again
The Whitesboro Bearcat baseball team came up with a second straight loss to Pilot Point last week at home with a 7-2 final in district play.
Brody Colvin singled and drove in two runs.
Parks Ramsey went 2-for-3 and scored once.
Korbin Ross singled.
Wyatt Winchester singled.
He also allowed a run on one hit with five strikeouts, two walks and two hit batters in four innings of relief.
The loss took Whitesboro to 4-9 on the year and still looking for their first district win of the season.
They faced Bells in a non-district game at Frisco Rough Riders Stadium on Tuesday night before playing in the Sulphur (Okla.) Tournament starting on Thursday.

Pirates top Honey Grove
The Collinsville Pirate baseball team defeated Honey Grove, 9-2, last week on the road in district play.
Paxton Davidson went 3-for-4 with a double, walked and scored twice.
Travis Emshoff went 2-for-3 and scored twice.
Jaxon Spivey allowed an earned run on three hits with nine strikeouts and four walks in five innings.
He also singled, walked and scored once.
Caysen Schafer singled, drove in two and scored once.
Luke Sheppard singled and drove in two runs.
Brandon Cantu singled, walked, drove in a run and scored once.
Keaston Worthington singled, walked and drove in a run.
Rider Patterson drove in a run and scored once.
Noe Cantu walked twice.
The win took Collinsville to 6-1 on the year and 4-1 in district play.
They played at Tom Bean on Tuesday. Results were not available as of press time.
Andrew Finney doubled walked twice for Honey Grove (8-2, 4-2).
Tioga trounced by Sam Rayburn
The Tioga Bulldog baseball team fell to Sam Rayburn Friday with a 17-1 final on the road in district play.
Maddox Hurst walked and scored once.
Caleb Moncrief drove in a run.
Luke Roberts walked.
The loss took Tioga to 4-11 on the year and 1-5 in district play.
They traveled to Trenton on Tuesday. Results were not available as of press time.
Lady Rams top Gunter
The S&S Lady Rams came up big last week with a 4-2 home win over Gunter in district play.
Hayden Mowrey went 3-for-3 with two solo home runs and walked.
She also threw a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts and four walks and turned a pair of double plays.
The win put S&S, Gunter and Bells in a tie with one loss a piece in district play.
Brooklyn Sterling went 2-for-2 with a double, hit by a pitch and scored once.
Lana Walters went 2-for-4 and scored once.
Hannah Foster doubled and drove in a run.
Saryn Dowell singled and drove in a run.
The win took S&S to 17-5 on the year and 4-1 in district play.

Tioga tamed by Sam Rayburn
The Tioga Lady Bulldog softball team lost to Sam Rayburn Friday with an 8-7 final on the road in district play.
Kyndall Whitley went 3-for-4 with four RBIs.
Abbey Urich went 2-for-3 with a double, walked, drove in a run and scored once.
Kenzee Powers went 2-for-4 and scored once.
Bella Dennis singled, walked, drove in a run and scored three times.
Aly Salinas singled and drove in a run.
Sadie Bates singled and scored once.
Emerson Moore tripled.
The loss took Tioga to 6-10 on the year and 1-5 in district play.
They hosted Dodd City on Saturday.
Dixie Chaffin was 4-for-4 with two RBIs and scored twice for Sam Rayburn (7-9, 3-3).
Lady Pirates lose to Honey Grove
The Collinsville Lady Pirate softball team lost to Honey Grove last week with a 14-0 final on the road in district play.
Jaydee Matlock went 3-for-3 with a double.
Ashleigh Ortowski tripled.
Zoey Kays singled.
Kendall Brandewie and Hailey Germany walked.
The loss took Collinsville to 2-9 on the year and 1-5 in district play.
They hosted Whitewright on Saturday.
Lady Cats edge Paradise
The Whitesboro Lady Cat softball team topped Paradise 10-9 last week at home in district play.
Reagan Downs sealed the deal with a two-run walk-off single.
She also went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and scored once.
Cameron Ortiz went 3-for-4, drove in a run and scored twice.
Kaydence Thomas went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Breighlin Rupert homered, walked and drove in two.
Fallon Perkins singled, walked, drove in a run and scored once.
Avery Howerton walked five times and scored twice.
The win took Whitesboro to 17-6 on the year and 4-1 in district play.
They had a bye on Friday and traveled to Pilot Point on Tuesday.

The S&S Lady Ram softball team run-ruled Blue Ridge 20-1, in three innings, last week on the road in district play.
Tabi Jordan went 2-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and scored twice.
Hayden Mowrey went 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBIs and scored three runs.
Lana Walters went 3-for-3 with two triples, walked once, drove in two runs and scored four times.
Saryn Dowell threw a one-hitter with five strikeouts and a walk.
She also went 2-for-3 with a triple, drove in a run and scored twice.
Brooklyn Sterling and Brynlee Mullican each went 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored twice.
Marley Lunde went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and scored once.
Izzie Talamantes doubled and scored twice.

The Whitesboro Bearcat baseball team fell to Pilot Point 8-2 last week on the road.

Rams routed twice by Pottsboro
The S&S Ram baseball team fell to Pottsboro last week with a 13-3 final, in three innings, on the road in district play.
Brightin McNabb went 2-for-2 with a double and walked for the Rams.
Hunter Rich went 2-for-3 and scored once.
Jake Carter singled, walked, drove in a run and scored once.
Rylan McSpedden walked twice and scored once.
Jordan Winborne walked and drove in a run.
The win took S&S to 3-8 on the year and 0-3 in district play.
They had to turn around and face Pottsboro again on Thursday where they were run-ruled again— this time with a 17-0 final at home.
In that affair, Kenny Melton, Hunter Rich and Carter Copeland all singled.
Tanner Scoggins walked.

The Tioga Bulldog baseball team fell to Whitewright 10-4 last week in district play.
Hayden Roberts walked twice and drove in a run for Tioga.
Cameron Askew went 2-for-3, walked and drove in two runs.
Jesus Enriquez doubled and scored once.
Caleb Moncrief singled and drove in a run.
Logan Netterville singled, walked and scored once.
Maddox Hurst walked, was hit by a pitch and scored once.
The loss took Tioga to 4-10 on the year and 1-4 in district play.
They traveled to Sam Rayburn on Friday.
