NTMC goes digital to improve patient access experience

NTMC goes digital to improve patient access experience

North Texas Medical Center (NTMC) is proud to announce the launch of its new digital patient intake system, a significant step forward in the hospital’s commitment to modernizing the healthcare experience. This streamlined platform is designed to prioritize clinical care over administrative hurdles, ensuring a faster, more secure transition from the waiting room to the exam room.

The updated experience begins the moment an appointment is scheduled. Patients receive an Instant Notification via text or email, providing immediate confirmation that their slot is secured. Through this digital portal, patients can access a Pending Items Checklist to complete registration paperwork and securely upload identification and insurance cards directly from their smartphone or computer.

“Our goal is to prioritize our patients’ time and clinical care over paperwork,” said NTMC Chief Executive Officer Tom Sledge. “By transitioning to a digital intake process, we are streamlining the arrival experience and ensuring our records are as accurate as possible before the patient even walks through our doors.”

This new system offers several key benefits designed to enhance the overall patient experience.

By completing forms in advance, patients can expect significant time savings, typically shaving 10–15 minutes off their time at the registration desk. The Data Verification feature further improves the process by allowing individuals to update sensitive details—such as employment and emergency contacts—at their own pace and in the privacy of their own homes.

While a quick stop at the front desk is still required for an express check-in, the “in and out” efficiency of the digital platform ensures that patients can focus on their health rather than a clipboard.

Looking ahead, NTMC is in the final stages of developing an integrated digital payment feature that will soon allow patients to manage co-pays and service balances directly through their mobile devices.
