W’boro, Tioga students to perform at minor league hockey game
Students from Whitesboro and Tioga high schools are set to perform at Saturday’s Allen Americans hockey game.
Whitesboro choir members will perform the “Star Spangled Banner” and the Tioga Bulldog Band will offer a rendition of “God Bless America” during the pregame ceremony at the CUTX Event Center in Allen.
“This is always a great event,” said Tioga band director Jesse Speer. “And we are thrilled to collaborate with our friends from across Western Grayson County. The area will be well represented, and our amazing students get to showcase their talent on a big stage.”
The public is invited to attend. Tickets are $26 with a portion of the proceeds going back to each of the schools.

Puck drops at 7:10 p.m. when the Americans host the Rapid City Rush.
The groups will perform at 7 p.m.
There is also an optional skate night after the game where participants can skate with American players and get autographs.
Skate night requires an additional ticket that can be purchased at TicketMaster.com.
The Allen Americans are a AA developmental team within the Ottawa Senator’s (NHL) organization.
This event was originally planned back in January, but has been rescheduled due to inclement weather.
Lady Cats clobber Callisburg
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcat softball team moved to 1-1 in district Friday with a 17-0 win in three innings over the Callisburg Lady Wildcats in district play.
Avery Howerton went 2-for-2 with a double and a home run, walked, drove in three and scored three times.
She also threw a perfect game with four strikeouts.
Jenna Cole singled, drove in two, walked and scored twice.
Kaydence Thomas singled, was hit by a pitch, drove in two and scored twice.
Fallon Perkins singled, was hit by a pitch, drove in a run and scored twice.
Cameron Ortiz walked twice, scored twice and drove in a run.
Reagan Downs and Kennadi Fuller each walked twice, drove in a run and scored once.
Breighlin Rupert and Addison Fuller each walked twice and scored twice.
The win took Whitesboro to 14-6 on the year.

Lady Rams pound Pottsboro
The S&S Lady Ram softball team crushed Pottsboro 20-2 in three innings at home Friday in district play.
Lana Walters went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run, walked, drove in five and scored twice.
Brynlee Mullican and Izzie Talamantes each singled, walked, drove in three runs and scored twice.
Hayden Mowrey threw a no-hitter with seven strikeouts and seven walks.
She also walked twice, drove in a run and scored three times.
Hannah Foster walked three times, drove in two and scored three times.
Brooklyn Sterling walked twice, drove in a run and scored twice.
Saryn Dowell singled, walked, drove in a run and scored once.
Marley Lunde walked twice and scored twice.
The win took S&S to 15-4 on the year and 2-0 in district play.

Cats, Lady Cats run at Gunter
The Whitesboro Lady Cat track team placed sixth last week in the Gunter Invitational with 48.5 points and the boys tied for sixth with 31 points.
On the girls’ side, the 800 relay was the runner-up in 1:52.19 and 1,600 relay was third in 4:15.40.
Karen Melchor was fourth in the 3,200 with a time of 13:46.97.
Tammy Lopez was sixth in 14:11.70.
Aubrey Beam was fourth in the 800 in 2:37.74.
Paisley Blevins was fifth in 2:42.26.
Beam also was fourth in the high jump at four feet, 10 inches.
Nya Degraffenreed was fifth in the 1,600 with a time of 5:56.36.
Alexis Barrios Chavez was sixth in the 100 hurdles in 19.46 seconds.
Brylee Weddle tied for sixth in the long jump at 14 feet, six and a half inches.

Tioga takes top spot at VV meet; Pirates, Rams on the board
The Tioga boys and girls track teams won the Russell Glascock Invitational last week in Valley View.
The Bulldogs took first with 114 points.
Collinsville was sixth with 33 points.
S&S was eighth with 17 points.
Tioga took gold in four events.
The 400 relay of Jaxson Hurst, Greeley McAden, Quesyn Arrington and Justin Arrington won with a time of 42.77 seconds.
Justin Arrington won the 400 with a time of 50.07 seconds.
Quesyn was the runner-up in 50.12 seconds.
Kyson Kirkland was third in 51.81 seconds.
Raul Chavez won the 300 hurdles with a time of 43.39 seconds.
Kallin Henderson was third in 44.12 seconds.

The 400 relay of Stewart, Turner, Sheppard and Adam Mott took sixth with a time of 49.99 seconds.
The S&S 800 relay of Elisha Gentry, Brenden Hammer, Blue Hatfield and Joe Orr won third in 1:37.04.
The 400 relay of Gentry, Hammer, Hatfield and Orr was fifth with a time of 46.29 seconds.
Kaiden Shields was sixth in the 300 hurdles in 46.10 seconds.
The Tioga ladies took top honors with 85 points while S&S was eighth with 30 points.
The Tioga 400 relay of Timber Johnson, Ella Norwood, Bella Dennis and Kyndall Whitley won with a time of 50.70 seconds.
The 800 relay of Johnson, Dennis, Norwood and Maddy Schon won with a time of 1:47.98.
Whitley won the 100 with a time of 13.01 seconds and Jillian Rodriguez was third in 13.46 seconds.
Johnson won the 200 with a time of 27.65 seconds.
Rodriguez was the runner-up in 27.88 seconds and Schon was fourth in 28.51 seconds.
She was also the runner-up in the 400 with a time of 1:03.75.
Lady Ram Dandree Meeks was third in the 1,600 with a time of 5:58.85.
She also took third in the 800 in 2:34.11.
Kenzi Perry was sixth in 2:46.24.
The 800 relay was third in 1:52.43.
Novalee Adams was fifth in the 100 with a time of 13.76 seconds and Hayden Mowrey was sixth in 13.99 seconds.
The 400 relay of Adams, Bella Bennett, Ayvah Gentry and Mowery was sixth in 54.64 seconds.

The Collinsville Pirate baseball team topped Tioga 11-1 in five innings Friday in district play.
Jaxon Spivey threw a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks for the Pirates.
Paxton Davidson went 2-for-3, walked, drove in two and scored.
Caysen Schafer doubled, drove in three and scored once.
Travis Emshoff singled, walked, drove in two and scored once.
Rider Patterson singled, walked twice and scored twice.
Cooper McMillan singled and scored once.
Keaston Worthington walked and scored once.
Noe Cantu walked twice.
The win took Collinsville on the year.

The Tioga Lady Bulldog softball team topped Collinsville 19-13 Friday at home in district play.
Kenzee Powers went 5-for-5, walked, drove in four and scored four times for Tioga.
Kyndall Whitley went 4-for-4, walked twice, drove in three and scored four times.
Addison Snuggs went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and scored twice.
Emerson Moore went 3-for-5 with a double, walked, drove in two and scored twice.

The Pirates opened the tournament and their season with a 9-3 win in six innings against Ponder.

Pirate basketball ends run
The Collinsville Pirate basketball team ended their playoff run last week with a 75-72 loss to the defending state champs Waco Meyer in a Class 2A Division I Region II semifinal at Weatherford.
In doing so, they wrapped up the program’s most successful season since 2014.
Chad Davidson led the effort with 18 points.
Carter Larance had 15 points.
Jaxon Spivey finished with 14 points.
Ryder Robinson and Caysen Schafer each had 10 points.
Collinsville ended the year 20-12.
Bearcats edge Blue Ridge
The Whitesboro Bearcat baseball team topped Blue Ridge 7-6 last week at home in non-district action thanks to a sacrifice fly by Ayce Nelson’s sacrifice that led to the walk off.
Jace Bomar doubled and drove in four runs.
Andrew Quick singled, walked, drove in a run and scored three times.
Parks Ramsey singled, drove in a run and scored once.
Brody Colvin tripled and scored once.
Rhet Rudinski singled and scored once.
Korbin Ross singled and walked.
He also threw four scoreless innings of relief with a hit, six strikeouts and no walks.

The Tioga Bulldog baseball team edged Trenton last week 2-1 in their district opener at home.
Cameron Askew allowed an unearned run on five hits with 12 strikeouts and a walk.
Jaxton Dejernett went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run.
The win took Tioga to 4-6 on the year and 1-0 in district play.

The red-hot Whitesboro Lady Bearcat softball team stumbled last week with a 6-1 loss to Boyd at home in their district opener.
