On Sunday, March 15, at 2 p.m., the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sherman is hosting a free concert entitled, “An Afternoon in Italy.”
The concert will feature a series of Italian pieces performed by soprano Judith Rodriguez, mezzo soprano Lorna B. Case, and pianist Dr. Barbara Bacik Case.
Rodriguez is a regular presence in the Dallas music scene, celebrated for a voice that seamlessly navigates both the operatic stage and major concert venues. In addition to performing as a professional chorister with the Dallas Opera Chorus ( AGMA), Rodriguez recently performed the National Anthem at the Cotton Bowl.
She continues to refine her artistry, focusing on works that merge vocal athleticism with deep emotional sincerity, as will be evident during “An Afternoon in Italy.”
Lorna Case graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry. She was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army Corps of Engineers and has served in the 2nd Engineer Battalion (Combat)(Mechanized) and 37th Engineer Battalion (Combat)(Airborne) in several roles.
She studies voice with Valentin Peytchinov (Metropolitan Opera, Juilliard School of Music). Her former instructors include Anastasios Vrenios (George Mason University, ret.) in DC and Vera Danchenko-Stern (Peabody Conservatory). She is currently pursuing her opera career after moving back to North Texas.

Her background includes a Bachelor of Music in Piano from the Eastman School of Music with Mrs. Cecile Genhart, a Master of Music in Piano Performance with John Perry at the University of Kansas and a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Piano Performance from the University of Texas at Austin.
