We are privileged to reside in a nation that values freedom and bravery. It is essential for us as a country to always remember the sacrifices made, allowing us to live in this esteemed nation. Patriotism has influenced the development of countries and communities over time, motivating people to dedicate themselves and make sacrifices for their nation.
This belief forms the basis of our profound sense of patriotism, characterized by loyalty and love for our country and fellow citizens. It extends beyond merely celebrating national holidays, displaying the flag, or standing at attention and saluting during the national anthem. Patriotism instructs us in treating and respecting others, embodying the true spirit of our nation.
Is patriotism today as important as it was in 1776? Today’s media reports that the Godly patriotic principles our country was founded on have lost the people’s ability to govern themselves. In fact, a poll by Wall Street Journal and NORC found that 70% of people believe that patriotism was very important in 1998, compared to 38% today. This poll signifies that America Patriotism is in decline.
Today in America, families are becoming less stable, traditional marriage rates are dropping. and concepts of gender and life are in a state of confusion. Unthankful, entitled, people are hurting others. Pride where we have filtered out the evil we see in ourselves and others. We have become fools doing the same thing over and over with no regret and America is moving away from the Godly principles and values we were founded on.
Americans want borders that are safe, not in creating a new class of voters in keeping the establishment in power. Elections won by casters, not counters, or non-citizens. Schools that educate our children using the Three Rs, not indoctrination. A judicial system that is fair and equal, not one that is biased, due to political affiliation. Equal opportunity not equal outcome. Genders at creation, not confusion of genders. Parents have the authority of our children instead of a corrupt government. Freedom of Speech, not political assassinations.
Safe cities, not violent crime war zones. A military that is designed and created to win wars, not a social experience. A return to godly principles and values, not vilifying people of faith.
As we examine the flight of our freedom over years it is evident we have forgotten the biblical principles and values on which we were founded. We are reminded in 1 Peter 2:16 that as “free people, we should not use our freedom as a covering for evil.” America must return to its foundational principles before it is too late.
Patriotism does not belong to a political party, it is a close connection like that between family members, loyalty, having the same qualities. This fundamental loyalty expresses what a society regards as admirable. Patriotic loyalty justifies giving priority to the interest of one’s country.
Patriotism can serve as a unifying force, enabling individuals with diverse beliefs to come together to address pressing challenges facing our nation. We have a chance in saving America however, it takes “We the People” all to come together, draw closer to God, invoking His mercy and grace to heal our nation, regardless of political affiliation.
I long for the normalcy of the past.
