The Whitesboro Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) and Happy Dave Blaylock sponsored their 18th Annual Father/Daughter Dance on Friday, Feb. 6 at the Whitesboro Community Center. Despite having to reschedule from Jan. 31 due to inclement weather, the event saw terrific attendance.
“This year’s dance was a wonderful success!” PARD Director Penny Renfroe said. “We had 427 dads and girls at the event. Including moms, volunteers and staff, there were a total of 486 people in attendance.
“I’m so grateful for our staff and volunteers that worked so diligently on this event. Personally, this is my favorite event of the year because I believe it’s so meaningful and significant. Some great memories are made.”
Happy Dave Blaylock provides the sound equipment and acts as the event’s host.
“We could not have this event without Dave Blaylock. Dave has such a heart for the girls and the dads,” Renfroe said.
The department had professional photographer Christine Davis shooting pictures of the event.
“We place so much value on this event, and we want families to have easy access to the photos,” Renfroe said. Those wanting photos can check out the Christine Davis Photography page on Facebook or find the link on the PARD page. Digital photos will be available for print from that site, or interested parties may contact Davis directly.
In addition to Blaylock and Davis, the high school’s National Honor Society also serves at the event. These students work with PARD staff at the event and assist with cleanup.
The Parks and Recreation Department staff is already planning for next year’s Father/Daughter Dance, which will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2026.
Renfroe extends a special thanks to all the men who attended the dance with their little girls.
“We hope that you made a great memory,” Renfroe said. “We look forward to seeing you again next year!”
