The Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Candidate/Elected Official Meet & Greet on Tuesday, Feb. 17, from 5:30–6:30 p.m. at the Gainesville Civic Center, located at 311 S. Weaver Street, Gainesville, TX 76240.

The event is designed as a casual, come-and-go opportunity for members of the business community and the public to meet local elected officials and individuals currently running for office ahead of the early voting period. There will be no speeches, no moderators and no formal program thus allowing and encouraging informal conversation and personal interaction.

“This event is really about connection,” said Jennifer Shumate, President & CEO of the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce. “We want to provide a relaxed, nonpartisan space where candidates, elected officials and our business community can visit face-to-face and build familiarity as we head into early voting.”

The Candidate Meet & Greet is part of a new civic engagement initiative being launched by the Chamber, with the intent for it to become a regular, recurring event in future election cycles. Participation is open to all local and state candidates currently on the ballot as well as sitting elected officials.

The Chamber has received a strong response from candidates and elected officials across multiple races and encourages community members to attend, stop by and engage in the process.

For more information or questions about the event, please contact the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce.
