Gainesville Area Visual Arts (GAVA) will hold its 13th annual “For the Love of Art” event on Friday, Feb. 6 from 6-9 p.m. at the Santa Fe Depot Museum in Gainesville (605 E California Street). This free event will include new art, live music from The Jazz Tete, wonderful food from Mom’s Donut Shop and (of course) libations. All of the art from 25 GAVA members will be available for purchase with 20% of sales going to support the GAVA scholarship.

This year’s event is made possible by numerous sponsors, including five Title Sponsors: Barthold Tire Company, Edward Jones - Morgan Henderson, Employees of Safran Seats USA, Gainesville Economic Development Corporation and Jim Goldsworthy – State Farm Insurance. GAVA appreciates every sponsor’s support and encourages people to see a complete listing of these businesses in the event program or at www.gainesvillevisualarts.org

In addition to the art sale, the Love of Art Original Art Raffle features a wonderful pair of mixed media art by Suzane Gainzar, a stunning glass mosaic by Cheryl Lovett, a beautiful Crazy Lace Agate wrapped in copper wire pendant by Taylor McGuire and a beautiful mixed media painting by Krystal Skinner. Participants get to choose which piece of art they’d like when they purchase a ticket. Raffle tickets are available now from GAVA and on the night of the event. Tickets are $5 each or three for $10. All money raised from the raffle goes directly to the GAVA scholarship.

The 2026 GAVA scholarship is for a graduating Cooke County senior who is planning on majoring or minoring in a field of visual art. From the fine artist to the architect, photographer or potter, landscaper or cake decorator - all qualifying visual artists are invited to apply for the scholarship. Public, private and homeschooled students are eligible - check with local high school counselors or visit the GAVA website for an application.

All applications must be received by March 27, 2026. Students will be asked to provide samples of their work as well as academic records. The 2026 application is available at www.gainesvilleareavisualarts.org
