Winter weather threat moves local games
Forecasters are calling for a major winter storm system over the weekend, and local schools are seeking to get ahead of matters by moving up some scheduled games.
At Whitesboro, all middle school basketball games against Pilot Point were moved to Wednesday with game locations and times remaining the same.
Friday’s high school games versus Callisburg were moved to Thursday at the same times.
As of press time, information is still pending about the JV wresting tournament at Colleyville Heritage, the middle school basketball tournament at Lindsay Gainesville and Lady Cat softball action versus Lindsay.
The spring sports parent meeting has been moved to Jan. 28 and middle school home boys’ basketball tournament has been moved to Jan. 21.
In Collinsville, the high school basketball games at Muenster on Friday were moved to Thursday.
Games started at the same times as on the schedule and results were not available as of press time.
All junior high games set for late in the week were cancelled.
As of press time, no announcements have been made about S&S and Tioga athletics.
Bearcats clip Eagles
The Whitesboro Bearcat basketball team got out of Valley View with a 36-35 victory Friday night in district play.
Wyatt Winchester led the attack with 11 points.
Ian Bruce had nine points.
Colt Fagan had five points.
The win took Whitesboro to 6-16 on the year and 2-2 in district play.
They traveled to Paradise on Tuesday. Results were not available as of press time
Pirates beat Chico
The Collinsville Pirate basketball team topped Chico 61-49 Friday night on the road in district action.
Ryder Robinson led the attack with 19 points.
Caysen Schafer had 15 points.
Chad Davidson had 13 points.
Jaxson Spivey had eight points.
The win took Collinsville to 12-8 on the year and 4-1 in district play.
They hosted Era on Tuesday.

Tioga slides to Slidell
The Tioga Bulldog basketball team lost Friday on the road to Slidell with a 59-48 final in district play.
They fell to 10-11 on the year and 1-4 in district play.
They hosted Alvord on Tuesday.
Slidell (18-6, 5-0) hosts Muenster on Tuesday. Results were not available as of press time.
Lady Cats downed by Valley View
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcat basketball team got bested by Valley View Friday on the road with a 52-34 final.
Reagan Downs led the effort with 11 points.
Emma Parish had nine points.
Aubree Bruce had seven rebounds.
The loss took Whitesboro to 11-15 on the year and 3-3 in district play.
They traveled to Paradise on Tuesday.

Lady Pirates pound Chico
The Collinsville Lady Pirate basketball team sailed to a 71-24 win over Chico Friday night at home in district play.
The win took Collinsville to 23-3 on the year and 6-1 in district play.

Lady Bulldogs bested by Slidell
The Tioga Lady Bulldog basketball team fell to 1-6 in district play on Friday after a 66-28 loss to Slidell on the road.
Tioga was 5-20 on the year ahead of Tuesday’s home bout against Alvord.

Pirates top Alvord
The Collinsville Pirate basketball team topped Alvord 63-45 Jan. 13 on the road.
Chad Davidson led the attack with 18 points.
Carter Larance had 11 points.

The Tioga Bulldogs picked up a solid 64-57 district win over Lindsay Jan. 13 at home.

Rams edge Howe
The S&S Rams picked up their first district win over the year on Jan. 13 with a 41-36 home victory over Howe.
The win took S&S to 4-17 on the year and 1-3 in district play.

The Collinsville Lady Pirate basketball team crushed Alvord 82-9 last week on the road in district play.

The Tioga Lady Bulldog basketball team fell to Lindsay 46-17 Jan. 13 at home in district play.

The S&S Lady Ram basketball team fell to Howe 50-26 last week at home in district play.
